Default Can't Stop My Storm From Vibrating When I Receive an E-mail

Please Login to Remove!

So, I changed the message alerts settings for Email so that the volume is on silent and the vibration is off. In spite of this, my phone still vibrates when I receive an e-mail, which is really bothersome in the middle of the night when I am sleeping. Anyone know what might be going on?

I have the same problem. I have my settings set the same. I notice when it is in the holster it will not viberate or notify me, when it is out of the holster it will viberate and ring even eith the settings set on silent and no viberate. Very frusterating.

I'm new here, but is it normal to sleep with one's device set to vibrate?

Besides, if you find it annoying, perhaps you're holding it wrong?

You should be able to change this setting under your SOUNDS icon menu.

I have my Email profile setting to just alert me with a particular sound.

You can't really alter the normal profile. Your best bet is to create a NEW profile. I created one called Vibrate Ricky that way I can tell it to ONLY vibrate on phone calls and text messages. I don't want vibration on new emails as I get them CONSTANTLY in my line of business.

Wait, these work are not the long-term answer. I have this problem with my Storm also, so I have banished my Storm to the car at night.

If you go into the email's Message Alerts and shut off all sounds and vibrations for all sections (Email, Priority 1, SMS text, Reminders etc...) and press "Try It" and hear no sounds and no vibrations, then regardless of the Home screen setting, which I should be able to keep on Normal, the phone makes noise. The HOME screen alert settings should NOT reactivate any section that was turned off.

It's a bug or dreadful UI planning, Rim needs to fix it.
