Default Enterprise Activation option unavailable after 4.5 upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

I upgraded an unactivated/unlocked 8800 from 4.1 to 4.5. Had been having problems trying to do an wireless activation as it would immeditaley give me an error message after I entered the password and selected "Activate".
So, I tried to upgrade to 4.5. Downloaded carrier specific OS from Blackberry and the Desktop Manager detected the device and the upgrade went smoothly, less no EA option available now.

Tried turning off/on device and removing battery
Tried wiping the device

It is connected to the EDGE service and I can connect to the Internet.

We do not have the BES in country, it is at another location and we are only allowed to do wireless activation.

Any ideas how to get EA back?

TIA

Sounds like you lack the service books. Go to options>advanced options>Host Routing Table> click menu key and select register now.

Default Service books

Thank you for the fast reply.
OK, just did that, did get an immediate registration email but no EA option.
Shut it off and removed battery just for grins and giggles, no luck.
There are 3 entries in the Host Routing Table.

Are you looking for an EA icon, or the EA menu option?
Which is missing? Or, are both missing?

The EA menu option should be:
Options > Advanced Options > Enterprise Activation

Also, check your service books. You should have a PROVISIONING service book in:
Options > Advanced Options > Service Book

Cool Provisioning et al

Hi,

Both options are unavailable, EA is not listed (anymore) in the Advanced Options or Setup Wizard.

Provisioning is not listed under the Service Book

Thanks everyone for your BB knowledge!

Call the carrier. Sounds like they have the wrong data plan provisioned on that account.

Default Will do

But it occurred to me, she had an 8700 that worked fine, lost it and bought an 8800 off of eBay. And that is where the story started, unable to activate when entering in the password and eventually upgrading the OS.

Having someone contact the carrier (language barrier, my end).

AH... this is a a pre-owned device?
Check for an IT Policy left over from the previous user.

Options > Security Options > General Settings > IT Policy Name = ??

Wirelessly posted

Resend service books from your bis site or the email setup icon.

Bes provisioning is controlled by a service book. If you don't have it after the resending call your carrier.

Call your carrier make sure you are provisioned for an Enterprise BB plan..

The provisioning is service book is pushed by your carrier...

Options -> Advanced Options -> Enterprise Activation.

If Enterprise Activation is not listed there then it's a carrier issue.. If it is listed then have the BES admin generate a activation password and use that.

This is pointless.
The Provisioning service book comes from the carrier, as has been mentioned to you several times already.
Service Books cannot be pushed from BES unless the device is already active on the BES.
(Provisioning service book wouldn't be sent by BES anyway.)

Unhappy Update (Sort of)

I am having my POC contact the carrier (Language barrier). Someone told me to regenerate the encryption keys and I see that under Security - Services, there are none, and the secondary menu (Security - Services) does not have the Regenerate Encryption Keys option available.

I checked with a BB that I have been trying to activate for a week now and it also doesn't have any Services under Security.

Really pulling my hair out here.

What part of this don't you understand?
THIS IS A CARRIER ISSUE. CALL YOUR CARRIER.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BLACKBERRY ENTERPRISE DATA PLAN ON THE ACCOUNT.

Regenerating encryption keys, resending service books, etc... are all functions of a device which is already active on BES. They will not do ANYTHING for you because your device is not activated on BES yet.

Thumbs up Guess what

You wouldn' think that I would dare poke my keyboard in this thread, but I thought I should post the findings.

Well as I mentioned there is a language barrier with the carrier so I have to go through someone else. I think in the end after one month of back and forth emails my go between wasn't passing along the correct information, so after probably 4 months of trying to activate this BB I find out what the problem was.

The service books (Service?) was turned off at the carrier.

Still not activated, but at least I have a screen full of services now.

Thanks everybody
