Default @vzw.blackberry.net Problem

Please Login to Remove!

My old curve died, and I never backed it up. I am currently unable to re-add this account to the phone through the email setup application.

Any help would be great!

You should use the "Change Device" feature on your BIS site to switch the emails over.

What error are you getting? If you log into the carrier BIS site and change the ESN and PIN, email should flow to the BB, as it did previously, provided you are with the same carrier. You don't need to re-add anything.

An just an aside, many of us do not recommend using the carrier supplied email address. Why? Well, when you change carriers, you can't take it with you. The only way to read email to that account is on the BB itself so when there is a BIS Outage, no email. And you are setting yourself up for tons of unwanted SPAM as it is unfiltered.

What email should we use? Is there a Blackberry email that we can use that isn't carrier specific such as ....@vZw.blackberry.net. Or are you just saying not to use the blackberry email at all and just set it up for your normal email accounts?

Yes, that's what the recommendation is.

Don't use the .blackbbery.net email (at least not for regular comminication) and use a normal email account.

Oh ok got ya. The only thing I use the BlackBerry email for is forwarding. I have my other accounts forwarded to the blackberry account. This way I can still use my actual emails like normal and I also get the emails almost instantly because the blackberry email is so much faster.

Use GMail and/or Yahoo Mail. They are pushed at near real time.

I actally get pretty substantial delays using gmail. Of course I have the gmail app isntalled for creating emails and such so I can check it anytime I want. But like I said, forwarding them to my blackberry.net account is how I get the emails the fasted.
