I've been having this problem ever since I got the phone and it seems to be a slowness arising from the use of bb app world. It probably has something to do with it continuing to load the page data even after I've stopped using it, and the slowness progresses for a long time but never when I download and install applications; only if i browse.
Each time I'm done browsing, I've had to reboot the device by taking out the battery. Does anyone know of a fix?
I was told by someone who has used it that its not worth the download or the space it takes up on your BlackBerry. They also said that it made the device sluggish and that their reboot time (when they did one) was increased almost 200%.
So I guess you're just experiencing what that person experienced.
Maybe you should try closing out some of your apps including the BlackBerry appworld and see how the device performs.
For the OP, do you leave App World running in the background? When I am done installing applications I always close out of the program. Make sure you are closing it down after you are done.
I've got the BBappworld. I like it. I really didn't notice any difference after getting it. Now I will tell what slows down my blackberry; the AP news app. If I run that thing my BB runs slower than one legged sloth. I tried actually shutting down the program but that really doesn't help. I love reading the articles so if I ever actually use it I always shut my BB down after I'm done so it'll run at top performance. That may be what ya have to do with the bbappworld if you think its worth having. By the way if don't already have quickpull, (the app that let's you shut down your BB w/out actually doing a battery pull), GET IT. It also let's you schedule recurring restarts. This really helps mine run a lot faster.
To be honest I really haven't noticed much of a performance drop since App World installation.. If anything increase my BB reboot time, it's a media card. At least in my cast.
Make sure you are running the latest version of App World I think it's 1.0.0.30..
Of course I only browse App World it ever so often, when I need a specific App, can't say I have to time to browse it to see what there :(

Just think about how far BlackBerries have come from then till now... And what else is coming.
+1 to PaulMdx. Not running=no problems, but when App World is open the device virtually comes to a complete stop. I often times can't even exit out of App World. I hit the escape button and walk away for 10 minutes and MAYBE when I return it has exited. Forget trying to exit using the close command via the BB button. I usually end up having to do a battery pull soon after accessing the store. It isn't worth it at all.
What devices do you all have. Even when open on my 8900 I don't have those issues. I hope RIM fixes those issues, though. I usually always close the application when I am done, but there have been times when I have left it running and I can still use my device just fine.
