Default Bell - Data Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me on the new Bell network (or any other network) with the BB 9700. The problem is tough to explain so I'll try my best.

Basically, I feel as if the device isn't checking the network enough to receive data. BBMs and emails are delayed and the browser seems to hang. I'll be in the middle of a BBM conversation and then I won't receive messages for a while... I'll go to the browser in order to kickstart the phone's data transfer.. it will hang for a few seconds, and once the new webpage appears I will received all the delayed BBMs and Emails.

Bell technical support just opened up a ticket for this problem and they are unsure if it's the network or the device. Their short term solution is to uncheck the connections in "manage connections" and then recheck them. I find my browser solution is a little easier.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Calls are working properly.

Thanks!

Welcome to the group!

I'm just speculating on things to look at. Just guesses. ... Do you have any aftermarket applications running in the background? Twitter client? Facebook? ... Any push weather app? ... If you have installed anything like that around the time you started noticing delays, try shutting them all down or deleting. Then experiment with adding back one at a time.

Also, if you've somehow managed to fill up the enormous amount of main memory you have, free some up and see if it makes a difference.

As I say, just FWIW. Nothing else comes immediatley to mind.

Thanks for the welcome!

I have no aftermarket applications and I noticed the problem right from the beginning. Also, I haven't used much memory...

Next step is a hard reset. Remove the battery for about 30 seconds then replace. See if there is improvement afterward.

My guess is it is not you.

Only other thought is the OS. Is there a newer version you can upgrade to? Look at the sticky at the top of the 9700 forum.

Short of someone else coming along with the answer, browse down through the forums and see if this has been discussed and maybe there's some info on the issue. I wish I could be more helpful.

I believe I have the most up to date version: 5.0.0.344.

I will continue to browse. Thanks for your help!

I'm wondering if a complete wipe of the BB would work...

I doubt a wipe would change anything. If you've done it before, then give it a try. Who knows. But if you are new at this I think you should leave well enough alone.

As I was typing my reponse a Bell technical support rep. called. They are running tests and the problem may be the SIM card...

Another thought -- if Bell doesn't figure it out -- try resending service books.

Thanks for that. I picked up and activated a new SIM card for mine yesterday and so far, so good. The device seems to be behaving like a Blackberry should.
