i just switched from the sidekick 2 to the 8700c let me know if i made the right move cause im have trouble with the 8700c...just to download a jpeg pic is hard...please i need help.

The Sidekick 2 is geared toward the casual phone/web user, whereas the Blackberry is more geared towards businesspeople. It depends on what you want to do with the device. If all you want is a phone that can browse the internet, and chat with people via text/IM, then the Sidekick 2 is probably the better bet. If you're a heavy user who relies on e-mail/phone for business, then the Blackberry offers a wider array of options.

Actually, the BlackBerry is excellent at many of the same things Sidekick 2 can do -- there are many things the 8700r can do better than Sidekick -- but one just need to overcome a learning curve (switching between PC and Mac entails a learning curve). Chatting with people works very well on BlackBerry too, just like a sidekick, but you need third-party software.

One of the many ways to download a JPEG to the 8700, just email the JPEG as an attachment to your BlackBerry, open the attachment, and save. (You can save either the reduced-size version or the full size version). It will now show up in the BlackBerry photo album.

That may be true, but unfortunately having the third party programs enabled requires jumping through hoops and ladders with Cingular.

Oh, that's trye -- Cingular does make it particularly challenging. (Although it does works out of the box for some!)

T-Mobile should have the 8700 soon though, and I'd expect them to preinstall AIM / MSN / Yahoo on it, just like they do on the 7100 Series. (Although, personally, third party software such as WebMessenger and the like, are superior since they allow you to multitask all chat networks more effectively)

And they don't rely on SMS like the wirelessvillage client does... I hope that maybe T-Mobile has built a client like the one on the Sidekick for the 8700 (IP based, real away messages, etc.). I'll be downloading it for sure if they did.

8700C is the right choice. Of course, this IS the 8700 forum. If you go to a Sidekick forum I suspect the answer will be different...
