Default Can anyone get Cingular BIS 2.0 to work with Gmail?

Please Login to Remove!

Cause I can't! I can get Yahoo! plus to, but not Gmail. I have tried the method where you type your password in on the BIS setup page, and the one where you just leave the password field blank and configure it manually (that's the way I got Yahoo! Plus to work). Any advice?

there's a thread here that has detailed instructions how to set it up. it's just not as simple as Yahoo! but can be done with a little bit of work and close attention to detail.
best of luck

I assume you're talking about this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=35040 ?

The only problem with this, it seems, is that the messages aren't kept in Gmail until you delete them w/ the handheld. That's what I want. All messages appear on Gmail's website and my handheld. If I delete them from my handheld, then they're taken off the website as well. Is this possible?

yes, exactly. sorry i couldn't post the url -something to do with this forum that doesn't allow you to post a url in a message until i've sent 10 messages.

so when you try to deleete on your bb, doesn't it ask you how you want to handle the message like mine does?

See my gmail/yahoo tips page. gmail is not integrated like Yahoo with BIS yet, but you can get very good functionality anyway. You just don't get the limited reconciliation.

There doesn't appear to be message reconciliation (getting deletes from haldheld to propegate to GMail) between GMail and Cingular's BIS 2.0. We'll have to wait and see if Cingular offers this level of integration in the future.

That's what I meant by limited reconciliation. Even in the best of worlds it's one way of sents and deletes. If you have ever had BES you will understand why I think it's lame.

I agree with Stinsonddog on the reconciliation. I'm used to BES, so even limited (let alone none at all) reconciliation is indeed lame.
