I can't get it to work.. which 8700 software do i leave? I'm currently running the latest Bharti OS. I downloaded the 8703 OS, I deleted the vendor file, renamed the axl. to axl.old, but i'm still not getting a prompt to upgrade, and when I do click on app loader it's still not running. Help please, thanks!

Just to be sure before I try it on my 8700g. You guys used the Blackberry.ALX from Bharti (for 8700) and NOT this one 8703e-Sprint-4[1].1.0.493?
Thanks

Scary !
Wow what a difference, it's really faster than before.
I was a bit scared though after intallation it took about 15 min for my BB to reboot! I had the hourglass spinning for about 10 min, then 5 min with the TMO logo, but it finally booted ok.

for it to take about 10 or 15 mins is normal when installing a new OS. The screen just goes blank for the longest time, but eventually it comes up.

Anyone running anything other than the default VZW load on their 8703e? If so, what OS are you using, and what pro's & con's have you found with your new OS?

I have this same problem after upgrading my 8700g yesterday to 4.1.0.346. How do I go back to the last OS so ZEN works properly? Or is there a fix for the notification ICONS showing up?

Putting TMO's .346 on your 8700 was a mistake. You battery life will suffer. Change to a different OS.

I actually just got the 7100i OS (handheld software version 4.1.0.376) using the method above. The OS can be downloaded from Sprint/Nextel right here ( https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...ent=biTZdMddN). It seems to me that the compatibility level of the software has more to do with the design of the handset than anything else (for example, trackwheel vs. track ball, which is one of the reasons why the 8100 OS won't work on an 8700 or a 7100 - in addition, camera vs. no camera seems to have something to do with it as well), so in this instance, you can get it running on the 8700c, even though it's a 7100-model OS.

On a related note, I found the actual link to the Sprint page here:
