Default Phone given to me - Shady

Please Login to Remove!

This sound a little shady...but here goes.

Looking for a good deal on a 9630 so went to Craig's List and found a phone. Connected with the guy and once I saw the phone was beat up and the back button wasn't working I of course said I wasn't interested. He then proceeded to tell me he got a new phone and didn't need the BB so I could have it.

Got it home. Took it apart, fixed the back button issue. Then tried to activate. Verizon told me I couldn't because this person has a large outstanding bill. Verizon's policy is to blacklist phones with these large unpaid bills.

No biggie here luckily and this guy didn't get any of my money, but does anyone know if Verizon takes these phones off the blacklist and if so when? 6 months a year, never?

Thanks
SGM

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

I doubt it... That would be like putting a person in prison with a hogh bail, and then just letting them go if no-one decided to pay.

They hold the phones on that list for a reason... However, they may unlist it when it goes to a collections place

I think they will lift the blacklisting when that bill gets paid or the account is cancelled by Verizon. They'll be in no rush to do this, so the timing of "when" is hazy.
