Default Ticking Noise over Wifi?

Please Login to Remove!

I've just noticed that when I make calls over WIFI aka UMA, I hear a very quiet and rapid ticking sound. I only notice it in very quiet rooms, and I have not noticed this in the normal EDGE calls. What is this?

Could be issues with your wireless connection. Try making those same calls while at another wireless location.

I am using my school's wireless which has a 21mbps connection. Most of my WIFI calls will be from school What would cause this?

same thing from different parts of the building. (school using different access points) around the building. I even noticed this noise in the basement where there is WIFI, and I assume little else. This is interesting.

I should have explained better. Don't just try another wireless access point, try another network completely.

The WiFi router / access point may be near a computer or other device that is causing the interference. I have heard this clicking before. I was able to resolve it by moving the access point.

Any chance there is a Nextel phone nearby? The Nextel signal causes interference with most speakers, based on the frequency it uses.

I have the same faint ticking sound on my 8120 that has been consistent across firmware updates and access points. Oddly, when I use a headset (wired) the ticking sound goes away.

i tried another network and there is still ticking. I checked my voicemail using both EDGE and WIFI and I've confirmed my findings on my phone. What could be up?
