Default URGENT: Accepting events from email import incorrect time

Please Login to Remove!

So, when setting up an event in iCal, I'll send the event invitation to certain recipients. When that person receives the event invitation on their Blackberry and accept it, the event goes to the Blackberry calendar, but with the incorrect time. Sometimes it is up to 8 hours off.

Anyone have any ideas? I really need to get this fixed asap for all of our work BB's.

Thanks!

Kenny

Is the correct time zone properly set on the receiving BlackBerry devices?

yes - both the Mac and the BB have the correct times on them. Everything is fine until you accept the event, then the event is placed into the BB calendar with the incorrect time.

I didn't ask if they had the correct time.

Check to see if the devices have the correct TIME ZONE set on them.

And you're sending out the iCal event and specifying Pacific (-8) as its time zone?
Seems more than a coincidence that the events are 8 hours off.
Sounds like the originating machine is sending the event in GMT.

There's a time zone discrepancy somewhere.

I don't have Entourage in front of me... but I think there is a way to specify the time zone for an event when you're creating the event. It's used to override the default settings.
See if you can find that setting and manually set the time zone to Pacific (-8) so it matches the device.

If that doesn't work, then I'm all out of suggestions.

damn - i just checked entourage. I created a new calendar event, but didn't see anything relating to any time zone option. Just the actual time of the event.

All time zones are correct on entourage AND the BB. Anyone please?

Double click on the event to open up a new window. In that window you will see a time zone option

i just checked every single place that time zone preferences are available. I also just tested again. I created a calendar event in entourage for 9am this friday and send an invite to my BB. When it showed up in my BB, it displayed the time for the event as 2am instead of 9am.

Time zones on BB are correct. Time zones on Entourage, AND the calendar tab are correct. Everything is set to Pacific Time. Even when you check the event invite on the BB, it says pacific time.

HELP!!!

Let's try this, accept the appointment into your BB, open that event and see what time zone it is set for. If it is set for pacific time and the time is incorrect, and the BB time zone is correct and Entourage is correct then it sounds like you have a problem with the BB. You can also try rebuilding the database on Entourage, maybe something is corrupt, it is a Microsoft product you know. I used to use Entourage then I went back to the apple apps, because they work, JMO.

Are you on an Exchange server? And have you tried a battery pull on the BB?

I have the same problem. I set up a conference call last week for today at 10 am. I recieve a iCal invite (my first ever) and it seems to be working great with my blackberry which is pretty slick. But the only problem is, instead of a 10am call like we decided upon, I got a ical invite for 11:00-11:30. In the email content of the invite (with the .ics file as the attachment) it says that we have an appointment at 10am. So it seems as though the mac is sending it with the correct time but the blackberry isn't seeing it correctly. My first thought was "time zone issues/DST issues". but after seeing timezones are correct, i had this kooky idea that maybe daylight savings is the culprit.

This may be a stretch but didn't we just alter the daylight savings times by a few weeks? Like we pushed the fall one back and had the spring one earlier so we can "save on energy" or whatever the excuse was. because the daylight savings deals with 1 hour differences, i believe this is the problem. Either the mac thinks its not DST when it is or the Blackberry thinks its not DST when it is. Is it possible that the firmware of the BB wasn't updated to the new DST dates? I can only assume that because we can tell the phont whether or not to turn off DST that its preprogrammed in the phone and may not be privy to our lawmakers changing up the DST dates.

Am i crazy or could this be possible?

RIM issued two patches for DST. But unless you are running an older version of the OS, this should not be an issue. This does bring up an interesting point, go to Options>Date/Time. Make sure your BB is set to Network for the Date/Time source.
