Just have my second BOLD. My msg LED indicator will shut off after a while. Any suggestion how to solve this problem?

I believe that's the way it is designed. It will not stay on forever.
I hope you didn't return a Bold for that...

It isn't a problem, it is that way by design. There are 3rd party applications you can get to resolve this "issue". I believe BBAlerts is what you want.

This was support to stay on to tell you that you have a new message. I have a 8300 before with no problem.

The red light NEVER stayed on forever. It went out after a certain period of time (10 minutes? 20 minutes) and you can't change it.

Are you sure you had no problems with this on your 8300? Or did you have a 3rd party app installed on your 8300?

I guess I look at the BB.
Like everyone else does.

Maybe someone else has experienced this.

It does blink for 15 mins I believe. I have had multiple BlackBerry models myself. I currently have an 8830. My new message LED notification stops blinking after 15 mins or so. It is the way it is. Maybe you were checking your notifications on your previous devices prior to the 15 minute "timeout" for lack of a better term.

Has anyone tried the BBalerts and where can you get them?

Using the search function at the top of the screen, I found where it is sold:

BlackBerry Alerts : Blackberry : Handango

Never. The light goes off after a period of time. Always has.

Lots of postings here have claimed BB Alerts has a setting that enables the LED to stay red. On the strength of that, I downloaded the trial version but nothing I tried enabled this to work. I emailed the software provider and received no reply. I also asked how to do this here but no-one replied.

I therefore very much doubt that BB Alerts can do this and I have deleted the software.

If someone knows how to get BB Alerts to do this, I would be very grateful to hear from them.

Best wishes
Nick

Spoken to the carrier (Rogers). According to them the LED will go off after 15mins or so for the BOLD.

Also according to them, this is not the case with 8800 series including 8830. The LED will stay flashing until you check your email. He is sure about this as he is currently using the Curve. I had a 8830 before and I remember that msg waiting LED will stay flashing until you checked the email.

I noticed something with the LED over the weekend that I'd never seen before.

I have the gmail application installed on (one of) my BB's. When I have the gmail app running, the light will blink....and blink...and blink. Seemingly longer than 15 or 20 minutes.

Same thing happens to me with JiveTalk. If I have an unread Jivetalk notification and I get an email, the LED will blink red until I check the email.

If I have an unread email and I get a JiveTalk notification the LED will blink blue till checked.
I have my JiveTalk notification set to Blue, I believe it is red by default.

The LED on my previous BOLD with the older software version will keep the LED flashing for approx 1 hour. My current BOLD has the latest software will only keep flashing for 15mins. The new sofware was support to improve battery life plus other fixes. However, if you have to keep checking for new email. you will ended up using more battery instead of saving. Not to mention a waste of time.

Seems odd that we can configure the led to flash blue and/or green *continuously* for bluetooth or network coverage, yet there's no config option for how long it stays on for a message (only if it comes on temporarily or not at all). This ought to be another setting in each alert profile. Oh well.

What with still no timed profiles either, the whole profile thing is due a bit of an overhaul. Anyone know if 4.7 "fixes" any of this? I wonder if 5.x will?
