beta is good til jan 19 2009... after that, i'm assuming they'll ask you to register and pay.

according to their license agreement, they said they will not be held liable beyond $50, so I'm wondering if that is close to what they're thinking.

PDF to Go from DataViz is a great pdf viewer. They do charge for it (I believe that it is part of the premium package of Documents to Go which comes on the Storm. I upgraded and got PDF to Go which is not only a viewer but also an editor. It costs but is well worth the money if you have to view pdf's on a regular basis. 73

it makes absolutely no sense to me that RIM hasn't provided an option to access the native pdf viewer outside of email. it's there... it'd dumb that we can use it outside of email.

I have to agree with you there Byproxy, a PDF viewer should be standard on any smart device.

Since there is not a native PDF viewer, I use Beamberry.

I think the present Storm implementation involves going through their Server to open pdf files, at least the first time. I just checked a rather large pdf file I had emailed to myself last month. On my PC, this file is about 2 Mb. I just reopened it after almost a month of Storm abuse - it opened almost instantaneously ! My experience with this scrolling pdf file (a nuclear well log) has been tremendous: zoom, pan and scroll are totally awesome.

Since this file opened so fast, it tends to support the idea that it is in fact on my Storm.

So why all the grief when I try to drag and drop it onto my Storm directly from by PC ? ("You will not be able to view this file"?) I'm guessing this means that it will need to pass through the BB server for cracking/formatting. Does anyone really know what gives here ? These pdf files are critical to any student or business person and a clearer picture of how these files are dealt with would help a lot - same for .doc and .xls files.

You might try looking at RepliGo Reader. Not free, but works well.
