Exclamation Please help me with Bluetooth Sync for 7130e

Please Login to Remove!

I've already posted this in the RIM software category, but I think it may actually be a Bluetooth issue. I followed the instructions on an excellent post on this site regarding removing third party bluetooth software and using XP SP2 and the windows drivers. That fixed the first problem of enabling the 'Enable Bluetooth Support' button on the BB Device Manager.

The current issue is that the Device Manager indicates a connection (w/ the time of connection in the Statistics tab). When I go to to the Destop Manager however, the status indicator at the bottom of the main window says 'disconnected'. When I go to the Connection Settings, Bluetooth w/ my devices PIN is listed and when I click Detect, it finds the device. The main window still indicates that it is disconnected and the 'Sync now' button in the Intellisync menu is greyed out and can't be clicked. Any thoughts? I've already tried unistalling and reinstalling the BB software, but that didn't seem to change anything.

I'm using a BB 7130e w/ Verizon service, an HP dv1000 series laptop and have a personal BB account w/ v. 4.1. Also, if I sync w/ the USB cable, everything works tip top. Thanks so much in advance, I really appreciate it, cheers.
A couple of more facts that may hopefully be helpful. When I click on Bluetooth settings on my notebook, and open the properties tab under the BB, there are no services listed. Also, in the devices tab in Bluetooth settings, the word 'connected' below the name of the BB is flickering. Thanks again.

Is the bluetooth device (built-in or external device) on the Miscrsoft approved list? In the thread you mention there's a link to MS site. RIM documentation for OS 4.1 clearly states is must be an approved XP-SP2 bluetooth device.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It's built in and one of the approved BT radios (the HP one). Thanks.

Default Sooooo close!

Okay, so after talking to a tech at RIM and a lot of fiddling, here's where I'm at. It's definitely a McAfee issue. If I start up the computer normally and then disable all of the McAfee components (Spamkiller, Virsus scan, and Personal Firewall), I still can't connect. However, if I go into msconfig and disable all the McAfee stuff in the startup and services, my 7130 connects just fine. After enabling the McAfee services again, the connection is still fine. Is there a setting in McAfee that I'm missing so that I don't have to go through this every time? Thanks again for your help whsbuss, I really appreciate it.

I just unistalled McAfee to try to narrow down which part of the program is causing the issue. It seems to be the VirusScan or SecurityCenter (I didn't install the firewall and still had the connection problem). Any thoughts?
