Default Recommend a Wifi blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I've been wanting to try out a blackberry, I'd like the storm 2 because of its screen size and wifi but the price is pretty high. I'm looking for something with wifi, GSM(i'll be using it on tmobile). I want to spend under $400

I've owned iphones and a htc hero. blackberry and webOS are two platforms I havn't tried.

Have you looked at what is out there today, especially on the T-Mo site?

What are your requirements other than WiFi? What is important - 3G or not to 3G?

You can do a comparison at Blackberry.com and with T-Mo.

Really, you are the only one to make the choice.

hmm. well I would probably have to end up buying an unlocked one, since I don't want to be in a contract. 3G isn't important. I would like GPS with maps built in, do I don't need a data connection for GPS to work.

There are no pre-loaded maps applications for blackberry (i believe).
Google maps, blackberry maps, all use data to get the maps.

As MidnightDraven said, for most, if not all, of the map apps, you must have the BB data plan. Maps are downloaded as needed, not stored in the device or SD card. Check the GPS and Map section.

There might be one or two that you can use stand alone, but don't think they come very highly recommended.

Have you tried any BB models in person? Most people seem to have a strong preference for a particular model's keyboard, size, etc.

That's really a matter of the GPS app and not the BB itself.

Hmm, thanks for the answers. What are the differences between the curve 8900 and the bold 9700?

apparently the ones on ebay and even ones sold unlocked on sites like amazon and newegg don't have a warranty. I guess I'll have to buy the phone though tmobile to get the 1-year warranty.

Tmobile has a option for you to make monthley payments on the phone and add it to your bill. I am paying 15 dollars a month extra until my phone is payed for.
