DubDub is correct.
It doesn't matter if the SIM was replaced, the number has changed etc. The personal email is attached to the device's PIN. With a BES data plan, you can still add up to 10 personal email addresses (unless blocked by an IT policy).
The previous user set up an account on AT&T's BIS page to have their Yahoo mail pushed to the device.
You will need to contact AT&T and ask them to remove the BIS account from the device's PIN number.
