BBM won't receive invite replies

I've been having an issue with BB Messenger on my personal BB for a while and need some help. I can send invites and send/receive PIN messages, but do not receive the invite replies and don't receive the system PINS (like blackberry.net mail password retrieval).
Has anyone experienced this before and if so, what did you do to fix it?
I actually upgraded my BB from the older curve model to the 8520 to see if it would resolve the problem, but I'm still having the same problem on the new BB.
