I've just got a Blackberry 8520 and have a stupid problem. I don't have network internet coverage (WAP or GPS) and I can't get any apps like the Shazam or Facebook ones to work through Wi-Fi. Is this just not possible? Can't even get Opera Mini installed as it doesn't detect an internet connection either. My default browser (and the App Store) have no problems connecting to the internet through Wi-Fi. All the other ones have Wi-Fi enabled in Permissions, but say things like 'unable to find a working network connection.' Is there some kind of higher up option I haven't enabled?

Sure there's something very basic I'm missing. Thanks in advance for any help!

But do I need one even for Opera? Seems strange that I can use the BB default browser fine but can't even install Opera?

Facebook requires a BB data plan. To install apps OTA, you also need a BB data plan.
