Default Setting up my work email

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I am trying to set up my work email but it is not being recognised when I attempt it through my BB.

I have tried it through my computer aswell but when I enter my PIN and IMEI it says I need to set it up through my BB. Just seems like swings and roundabouts....

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

No, just on a normal contract.

First you need a blackberry data plan or no email. Once you do get a plan then use the info in this link

I am currently on a data plan...and have tried through BB and the internet, neither is working at the moment. Is this common?

You need to be on a specific plan not a general data plan. A standard cell phone plan wont work.

You must be on a Blackberry Data Plan.
Do you have a Blackberry Data Plan? Not a regular data plan.
If you do not have a Blackberry Data Plan you will not be able to use email.

hmmm, unsure whether I am on general or BB data plan. I have received emails in the past through hotmail etc. But this is a pop3 through outlook. I am guessing this is what is making the difference?

Although I have BBM, does this make it a Blackberry data plan?

if you can use BBM then youi should have a plan. If your trying to add the work email it may simply be that your company does not allow internet access to the internal network.

you should check with your IT department and see what restrictions if any there are.

Generally unless a company has an internal BES server it wont work unless they have a pop access method. Not very common.

What do you mean by a pop access method? Like a password?

You really need to talk to your IT department and see if they even allow access. Pop method is detailed here. Other methods are available such as web access but again only your IT department can give you advice on which they allow,.

You can check your bill and see if you have "Data Plan" or Blackberry Data Plan" online. Also, do you use Outlook at work? Or does your company have the info for the hosting site they use for their e-mails? If so, I can help you set it up.

I think he should speak with his IT department first.
