I've been (trying to) sync my contacts to iCloud but there have been issues. Reformatting due to custom labels in iCloud, contacts disappearing from my Q10 if I edit them, and a loss of connectivity that requires me to retype my password into settings. I'm done trying to make this work.

So I'm considering setting up the wireless sync with my GMail account. Anybody want to chime in about how it works for them? What I'm looking to avoid is mis-formatted contacts due to syncing. In the past if I had a contact in as:

First name: Jim & Cathy
Last name: Dean

it would get re-formatted by Google as

First name: &Cathy
Last name: Dean Jim

I'd like to avoid that if possible. So how's the connectivity with Google? Do contacts go missing? Does the sync process mess with formatting?

From what I'm reading on the BlackBerry Support Community Forums the same kinds of nonsense ensues with Google cloud sync.

The last time I used this to sync I got so pissed I just gave up.

It's working well for my Q10 and iCal on my Macs so long as I keep an eye on the default alert when I create new appointments. But I've had so many glitches with iCloud I'm gun shy about trying another cloud-based syncing solution.

I use my Q10 and synchronize it with my Google contacts but I only have 1 person per contact entry so I don't have anything like "John & Jane" for first name and "Doe" for last name.

In terms of the synchronization, I find that it seems to "randomly" synchronize. By this, I mean that I will make a change on my Google Contacts directly (via webpage/computer) and it will sometimes take days for it to appear on my Blackberry Q10. Likewise when I make a change on my Blackberry Q10 contacts, it can sometimes take days for it to appear on Google Contacts.

Sometimes changes that I make don't appear to get synchronized (i.e. they just stay on Google contacts or they just stay on my Blackberry Q10).
