Wirelessly posted (verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

This morning when I woke up I received this error on my 8830. I was wondering if anyone can help me resolve it "uncaught exception java.lang.classcastexception" I only have message alerts, lexicomp installed on the device. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Marc

Do a battery pull and see if it happens again tomorrow morning.
Probably the unfortunate result of some third-party app.

Maybe try removing any third party apps, and then adding them back one at a time to see which one causes the error.

I deleted the calendar patch that has been spoken about.

Funny that you would mention that because I tried the calendar patch yesterday on my 2 day old 8830 and an hour later it froze. I pulled the battery to missing os and all I had was java console. I ended up taking it back and getting new one

why would you add a patch? Patch should be there with 4.2 OS? Am I wrong?

There is a patch for the 8830 & 8300 to fix a calendar sync issue. See the sticky at the top of this forum.

BTW: The Bell version of the OS is supposed to include the fix also. I've been running it for two weeks on my VZW 8830 and have had zero problems with it. If you need the calendar patch, this might be a good alternative.

Not entirely wrong fadmin. There's a new version of the 8830 OS offered by Bell Mobility (Canadian carrier) which is 4.2.2.240. This version has fixed the calendar patch issue and OTHER issues too. I don't recall all of them, but it's much smoother than my original 4.2.2.66 that came on my 8830 (beginning of June). (there's a listing of all the OS versions that the patch works for and I believe they are all 4.2.2 from .66 through .103)
