Exclamation 8700G Update Issues (!!!)

Please Login to Remove!

The end of the world just happened.
I tried to update the software on my 8700G (t-mobile) and everything was going brilliantly and then I see what is described herein:
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

The only problem is that now, the Desktop Manager/Device Manager don't even recognize my BB as being connected to the computer (via USB).

I will be eternally grateful for anyone who can help me out of this scary situation (I bought this BB two days ago). Thank you in advance for your time!

UPDATE: I am currently reinstalling the 4.2 desktop manager software in hopes that it will solve my problem. Will keep all posted.

You may have to force it in app loader. It may not connect automatically to desktop manager, but it should show up as a connection option in the app loader.

Is anyone else getting an alarm clock icon whenever they click on stuff,. ie, SMS, email, etc?

Even though the alarm icon doesn't show up on the home screen whenever I click on something it appears at the top.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't specify but it's only when using the AT&T theme.

I like the "BB Insight-Icon" theme in TMO 4.1.0.346, maybe because I liked the familiar look to the old 7290 themes.

I searched the Blackberry ALX file posted here, and didn't see anything that looked like it. Is it there, and I'm not seeing it in the ALX theme file?

8700g software update is no good for T-mobile network-
It's a shame- that, people keep saying in blackberryforums & crackberryforums that it's ok to update handheld application & latest desktop mgr in 8700g with T-mobile. No it's not ok to update software, if T-mobile does not update their version. You will face tremendous problem, such as audio problem, hissing noise in background, either party don't hear each other. To those people- Please do not misguide people with wrong info. We come in this forum to learn something or teach something good. Thanks

I have loaded this on several 8700g's from TMo and have not had any complaints.

I have loaded on my 8700g-Tmobile several times and I'm keep facing one problem, that is audio, background has hissing noise. If you think you never faced any problem, please let us know everything in details. I'm sure everybody will appreciate for your help. Not to mention this update is fantastic for only email or messenger service, not for voice. Thanks

I think it's fairly safe to say that there are some people who have had issues after upgrading their T-Mobile phones with 4.2 on their 8700's (and newer versions of 4.2 on their Pearls)

I think it's also fairly safe to say that it is the exception and not the norm

Keeping that in mind, blanket statements such as, "It's not safe to upgrade your OS if it isn't released by your carrier" and "It didn't happen to me, so it couldn't happen to anyone else" really don't do much good. We all know that there is a risk in upgrading the OS on a phone, and sometimes it is a trial and error process. If your phone was working fine, and you upgraded it, and now there is an issue.. guess what, it's time to roll back the "upgrade" and wait for another one.

I have issues with this release on the 8700, they are AT&T devices.

They will not successfully load MDS Runtime, or custom apps that my company has developed and rolled out. I now have 6 devices that will not run apps because they are on this version. I have a ticket open with RIM.

If you have found a solution for MDS Runtime on an 8700c with release 4.2.1.96 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know!

4.2.1.91 has been out for months. There will be nothing Earth shattering in TMo's release.

Get 4.2.1.91 Here

Found the answer to my question. The Insight Icon theme was not ported to 4.2.

This file that I replace is the one in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.2.1.101_P2.3.0.81 directory ?

*update* Got it all working, thanks!
