Default Google Maps - new versions bring more and more lag

Please Login to Remove!

As the beloved Google Maps continues to update and bring more features, it has also noticeably slowed down (in my opinion). As great as the My Location feature is, there are definitely times when I simply want to pull up a map of a location and I don't need to know where I am - and for that, the original 1.x versions perform much faster. Even from 1.3 to 1.4 and on they seemed to slow down with each update.
My question - first, has anyone else noticed this? If so, are there any tricks to help the problem? I'm aware of the ability to disable My Location, but I'd rather not go back and forth with that frequency. I'm thinking along the lines of increasing cache or other modifications to improve overall performance - is anything possible?
Thanks in advance-

I've actually noticed better performance on the new. Dn't know what to account for that though as I was on a Pearl and upgraded after getting the curve.

As for ways to improve performance, i'm not sure, maybe check to see how much memory you have. Also, I noticed some issues after I restored my info from my Pearl to Curve. I had to wipe the curve and do a selective restore.. only my contacts and calendar and that made a big difference.
