Well i did this update last night and when i came out to look at my phone all i saw was the led light blinking red, my computer recognizes the BB pearl, but the Desktop Manager does not. I have tried to wipe it with JL_Cmder but when i do it says connecting to device then goes straight back to the main menu. Help please =(

Uninstall and reinstall the OS package to the PC. I've received that message a time or two and reinstalling the OS to the PC usually takes care of it.

This has never proved true for Yahoo Messenger. It always gets wiped without the option to save it, requiring a reinstall.

Never used Yahoo Messenger. I use JiveTalk. Its true that there are a few cases where apps don't get backed up.

I had some issues with upgrading Desktop Manager on my desktop PC (Still running Office 2K) so I loaded the updated version on my laptop (Office 2K3)and upgraded my Pearl with it. I really like the updated versio. I also added ColorPearl too. That is sweet. I backed up my data and lost nothing at all. Even my ringers and 3rd party apps came through. Thanks!

Does anyone know if Hotmail can be pushed yet?

Default Faster ftp site?

Is there a faster site from which to d/l the new sp2 desktop manager? I'm only getting 45KB/s from the blackberry site, seems pretty slow since my cable modem gives me about 6Mb/s. that 231 MB file is taking well over an hour.

Thanks.

Use a Download-Manager with Multiple connections.

I always thought it was just me having that problem. Wonder why the throughput from that site sucks so much...

I DL'd from RIM directly and it took ~1 hour...

The update is worth it though!

hey kids --

i updated from .64 (the one from the pretty white box).

things i noticed:

* the 10 seconds of nothingness on incoming calls is gone (where i could hear the person that called, but they couldn't hear me until after 3 hello's)

* the custom ringer stop/repeat problem. all my custom mp3 ringers now play the full length (ie. they stopped playing for 10 seconds, then going back to the beginning and playing again).

i noticed a couple other stupid things, but nothing monumental. so yeah, good upgrade.

Having trouble installing the 4.2 sp2 desktop manager. Installation seems to hang during the Roxio Media Manager part, where it is gathering info. Well, maybe this isn't a surprise after all, it is Roxio after all. Nero is way better.

Is anyone having trouble with bbweather? When I try to add my zip code I can never hit the ok button. Nothing happens. I try to get to a menu but it just says empty menu. I'm able to cancel but not hit ok. This is only when I try to add a new location. When I try to edit the current empty location it freezes. Any insight to this problem is much appreciated.

just upgraded to the 4.2.1.101 on the pearl, works nicely, except it will not play back video, all of my previously useable video promts an error message when trying to play, "error playing - the media being played is of an unsupported format"

downgraded to the 4.2.1.96 from att, problem still persists... any one else experience this, and solutions or known fix? much appreciated

I did the upgrade yesterday and have problem with calls dropping off after a few minutes. Couple of issues when going through the upgrade where the software didn't recognize the phone restarting, etc.
