I was able to setup and use Cingular's BIS 2.0. Went right back to 1.8, There's a problem receiving emails, while sending was flawless.
I guess I'll wait a few days before trying again..

You can not 'setup and use' BIS 2.0, and then go back to 1.8. BIS 2.0 upgrade is one way road.

Actually, I just tried it, the logon screen is the BIS 2.0, but after that it takes to the BIS 1.8 screens...
So I guess they haven't "officially" rolled it out...

BTW, I am in the Atlanta market for Cingular...

Yes I did,
What I did was have CS delete my BIS account, then when I went to add it, it automatically took me to the BIS 2.0 setup process.
When i noticed the problems, I had CS delete my account again.
Then I loged on to BIS 1.8 (which I have setup for a different blackberry)
When I logged out from that specific account, I pressed the link on that page to log-in again, and this time it took me to the old BIS login (1.8) instead of the new one. Hit create a new account and voila!, back to 1.8

So yes, I was able to go back.

A) Our Customer Care is closed Sundays

B) A "Qualified Rateplan" is $39.99 and above by definition

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/122 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Thank you!
Although I would have loved staying with bis 2.0 .
Any idea why I had problems?

I do not know what problem you had other than 'problem receiving emails.' Is it for blackberry email address or for POP/IMAP email address, do they arrive late or not at all, do you receive email bounce 'can not deliver' or nothing?

You gave too little information to guess what is wrong. I know people with accounts on BIS 2.0 who do not have problems receiving emails.

sorry, while it send just fine, emails never arrived, the data support tech even tried sending me a test msg straight to the blackberry address but i never received it. Service books arrived just fine, but nothing else, We went to the normal troubleshooting steps (reset, register, etc..) but no emails.
I also noticed that the blackberry adress changed from .net to .com

Who are you calling? The local store or Cingular's call center 800 number?

Will a family plan add on be able to qualify? I have the $69.99 plan that includes two lines, but under the OLAM it shows a $9.99 add on for the secondary.

It's $9.99 to add another phone to the account. For that price the phone you add can use the "pool" of call minutes you have on the account. If you want a data plan (which is a feature) on that phone then you have to add it by calling Cingular or going to a local Cingular store.

So yes, you qualify.

I was able to call 611 today and I also have a family plan but since I have a discount on my plan through work they transfer me to the business side. I remember not being to call the consumer side before on Sundays. So much for customer service

And since the new plan is cheaper, does he get less commision? If he does I am sure he is not going to be happy about it...

I bet he'll be happier than if you called cing's 800 and he lost it ALL...
After all you're given him a shot-
Hope he isn't that ungrateful----

I wonder if this means that tethering is now $59.99 total?

No, see above you must have a voice plan of $39.99 or higher.

Thanks PolishPanda, jdjleo. I already have the $34.99 on the secondary line now. Just wanted to be certain. Any news on what will happen with the 4MB plan? I imagine they will drop it all together due to the new BIS personal plan price.
