If you are logged in or out, but the app is running, it uses memory and some battery.

If you have Live Search installed, you need to be aware of a quirk/bug in the way it operates. When you reset your Blackberry, Live Search loads on startup, for some reason. If you let it run in the background, it'll use a lot of battery. The quirk/bug part is this: If Live Search was loaded on startup, and you then attempt to go into it from the home screen, you'll end up with (apparently) another instance of Live Search. So when you shut it down, the first one is still running. To close that you, you have to go in through the Application Switcher and then shut it down.

This behavior has persisted through every OS on my 8320 and then 8900, so I believe it's caused by the way Live Search is coded, rather than some quirk in the OS. It's now part of my reset ritual that the first thing I do after the security software is verified is close Live Search.

I keep Live Search on my 8900 because I actually like it, apart from this nuisance factor. Unlike the newer Bing app, it doesn't just invoke the BB browser for certain information. But apparently it has something in common with Bing: it eats up battery life.

I have been following almost PERFECT procedures, yet for some reason my battery lasts only from 8AM to 6PM with MODERATE use. I am not a heavy user by any means. I try to conserve as much as possible, but for some weird reason....I get crap battery life.

I have reason to believe, though, it's my SD card. Any opinions or thoughts?

You sure your batter charging to the maximum? On my bold , the battery icon looks full but when I check in status it could only be around 80% or so

reith, If you can't type semi-literately in ANY language, YOU should get used to the criticism. You're being rude by posting in this manner and asking us to read it.

not sure if anyone mentioned it but u may wanna drop down to edge, or EDGE...u will see a 20-30 percent battery improvement. Or just see if u can grab some more batteries of of craigslist or somewhere. make sure they're new though, not used. i have three + two external chargers and go through two on a daily basis.

Default Turn off 2G / GPRS if you don't need it

I live in Sydney, and here 3G coverage is pretty good so I switched the Network Mode to 3G only, instead of 2G & 3G. For some reason that seems to conserve my battery life significantly. Maybe give that a go as well?
