Thanks for your help. Basically everytime you update the OS it updates your firmware as a matter of course.

You only update the OS software version, some call it firmware, but it's really not firmware. I would consider the Orange splash screen firmware. There is no updating that, however.

Well I did all of that but still no joy on either my 8700 or the Pearl. I am at a loss now as to what it can be. Mabey there is a browser setting that I haven't set up or it may be related to the phone being locked to the Orange network.

Well I have done some more investigating and I think I may have discovered the problem. My wife has a 8700 from work on the O2 network. When you go into the browser settings it has the options for Blackberry Browser, O2 UK Wap, O2 UK Secure Wap. Then another set of options for the Wap browser.

My 8100 is with Orange and I only have the option for Orange internet. When I click on change option it highlights the choice but doesn't show any more options and will not let me input any new settings. I then have a setting for the Orange Wap browser.

Any ideas on how to get the BB settings as I have already upgraded the OS twice? I will speak to Orange again and see if they can shed any more light on the subject.

Hi griffjnr,

Just wondering if you ever got this fixed?

I'm with Orange France, and have exactly the same problem.

No options to change the browser from Orange World to the Blackberry Browser, error message pretty much every time I try to load a page on Orange World ("A problem occurred while trying to render the page" - and this is when trying to access the Orange World homepage!), Opera Mini works fine, mail and Blackberry Messenger too.

I have spoken to Orange France - no help whatsoever.

Any help from anyone else would be very much appreciated.

Chris

Lucky boy/girl!

Orange France have a history of blocking services off to their unsuspecting customers on a range of phones. This hasn't come as any surprise, unfortunately.

At least after a couple of hours of trial and error, I have now managed to get the Orange browser working, and using it in conjunction with Opera Mini shouldn't leave me wanting for too much.
