In my case the Red light that was stuck on RED was on a 8830 that had been on for well over 6 hours.
It was blinking and I went to get the messages and it locked up
the battery had to be pulled to get it unlocked, this has been the only prolbem I have had since upgrading the OS to 4.5.0.138
