I think most RIM employees would agree with you, from what I talked with them about at WES. Their pre-release 8800 units did not have the flaws that the retail versions of the 8800 had with the keyboard.

I have no issues with the 8800's keyboard. In fact I really like it. It was a small learning curve but after that I like it better than the 8700's.

Is the 8300 os available for download anywhere? I'd love to try to load the new media player onto my pearl. If it can't be downloaded yet, Tmag - any chance you could pull the cod files for the media player off the device and post them somewhere? Maybe bbmaps too if it's higher than 1.1.34.

I'm pretty sure O2 won't do that. You have to be an existing customer, or setup an new account. Either way, doubtful they'd ship to the US.

I am getting a little concerned that the 8300 is going to be too small. How does everyone else think. I find the 8700 and 8800 size to be darn perfect. I do like the look of the 8300 keyboard, it looks closer to the best keyboard I have ever used, the 8700.
Will the screen on the 8300 be smaller than the 8700?

...with regards to size, not looking at the spec.s of the 8300, it looks like it's very similiar in size (though thinner) to my 7520. At this point, after being stuck with ONE blackberry from nextel, I don't care if the 8300 is the size of a pencil eraser! It's mine yo!
TMAG, I'm jealous that you've got the phone we all want and all, but dude, upload pics here. Though I've been hearing about crackberry.com, maybe I'll give that a gander.

I keep asking myself when is the 8300 coming out for either carrier (AT&t or Tmo), when I look back we always had a pretty good idea when we were 10-15 days away from a launch date. As of today we are all still hoping and guessing.....I am so not patient....I am looking all over the internet trying to see if I can buy it from O2 and get it shipped to the US instead of just waiting a little while longer. The only problem is I really dont know how much longer. I was hoping for a release with both carriers at the same time, I use Tmo so if it is not at the same time, i dont think I will wait. I will have to spend more money and get it unlocked with AT&T. I am like a little kid in a candy store. OH THE SHAME...............

i would wait as tmo version is rumored to have wifi, if you get o2 or att you will probably kick yourself for it.....get as many features as possiable...me personally dont care about gps as my car is equipped...so a wifi 8300 would be papa bear.

I'm planning on getting the att/cing, I'm not so sure I need wifi, my current phone doesnt have it.
Can you dive a bit deeper into wifi for me?
I'm too anxious anyhow!!!!! I need a damned blackberry! A normal one! I',m teasin, the 7520 has been awsome.

I don't see the issue with the keyboard! I was worried when I bought it, only to find out that it works perfectly fine. In actual usage is no different to my 8700g, maybe better. |

Not sure what the screen on the 8700 is like (size wise) but the screen on the 8300 is about 520mm x380 (viewing area), where the Pearl is about 390mm x 370mm. I've got both sitting in my hands and I like the size of the 8300. Measuring straight across the body of the 8300 it is 600mm (width) by about 1007mm in length. The keypad area is about 550mm x 27mm. Hope this gives you a bit more of an idea of the size of the system
