Default RPN calculator for 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

patrickh, I'd love to get the link to your RPN program -- I just broke my last HP calculator and am struggling with the standard one on the 8700c...

Thanks,
Matt

Default RPN Feedback

patrickh, the RPN functionality is great. Here are a few suggestions:

+Keyboard operation: Needs to execute when an operator is entered via the keyboard (ie 25 (enter) 10 + should immediately return 35)
+Keyboard entry for other functions (ie, quick access to ^, etc)

Additionally, check out: Pocket 12C SE Financial Calculator. They make a Blackberry product as well, but not RPN.

It is amazing to me that there is not a developed RPN calculator for the blackberry. This exists for the Treo, but the blackberry has 8 million subscribers, and I would guess 90% of whom are users of hp12c's or hp 15c's. Seems like a prime business opportunity to me.

Thanks!

Default Update?

Any new version of the project?

I, for one, am happy to make a substantial financial donation to spur development.

patrickh, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but while I was looking for an RPN calculator with financial functions I found this:
SourceForge.net: HorsePower Files

It's not blackberry specific, but it actually works rather nicely on my 7100. Looking at the source, it appears they use images for the red LED digits in the display instead of fonts -- very cool!

I like the command-line style entry which you use in your calculator, as opposed to the button-emulation style used in theirs. Perhaps you could incorporate their LED display and financial functions?

Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you to keep working on the calculator and thought this might give you some ideas.

Glad to hear you're still alive!

Two primary requests:
-Functions execute on operand
-Formatting (1,000,000) would be nice.

Please, please, please!!

Do a bit more with your calculator!! I don't do a lot of heavy math, and if you made a few small changes the calculator would be most of what I need. As requested earlier in the thread, making the math execute immediately (25 {enter} 3 {+} (result)) would make the feel "exact" to traditional HPs. If you also made the existing functions keyboard mapped, I (and I'm sure many) would have most of what we need.

Default Just got it

Patrick, thanks so much for the link; it works great on my 8830.

Is there a way to make the command buttons on the bottom take up multiple rows instead of scrolling?

Thanks,
Will

Thumbs up Yet Another Beta Tester

patrickh...I, too, would love to have your rpn scientific calculator. I bought my first HP in 1973 (HP 35), the one with the error in the "exp of ln of 2.02" (returned 2.00 instead of 2.02). I've owned an HP 41C, an HP 15C and an HP 32S II. Still have all but the 41C, which crapped out. The sweet spot was the 15C. Have used PalmCalc on my Treo 700P, but now have transitioned to a BB 8800. Having withdrawal. You're a saint, by the way. ...Jack

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Ahhh, the 15C. Why HP doesn't still sell that one is beyond me.

patrickh, I would also appreciate a link to the calculator. TIA!

This thread has long legs, but then, so does RPN.

[Edit: PM sent.]
