Default Help please...

Please Login to Remove!

I have read all of the posts here and have updated (i think) my 7100i. When I go into the settings in still shows v4.10.376 (platform 2.1.0.46). What am I doing wrong? I installed the software, reset the phone, and have even tried a wipe. Still not able to play wav file that I downloaded. Any ideas? Also I tried to access the web link for the zen theme and it will not load on my phone....

The fact that you were able to load a wav file makes it sound like the software is ok. I have loaded some that work, and some that don't. It must be something to do with the formstting, but I haven't had time to figure out the formats that will work.
As for the zen theme...I modified my blackberry.alx and it worked fine.

From what I can see the format that works for me is wav at 16khz 16 or 8 bit mono. Anything lower like 12khz will not work hope this helps. Also if you find one on the internet that you like but will not work just upsample it to 16khz and see if that will work it worked for me.

Hey guys, reading thru this thread... good stuff! Question, my 7100i has been somewhat slow as is, reading thru this, I don't want it to be any slower, just really want the zen background. Can I point my BB to that web address posted above and just add the background w/o the entire software upgrade? I don't really care about downloading ringtones as my BB is always on vibrate anyway.
Thanks

What's the official changes that happened for this upgrade?

Is it that you now have themes when you couldn't before?
Is it that you now can have .wav/.mp3 ring tones when you couldn't before?

What else?

I've downloaded the update but have not installed.

I have heard all 3rd party software will be removed from the phone as part of the upgrade.

If this is true I imagine that means Telenav, googlemaps, games etc will be lost and I'll have to re-install.

True?

Same with me, all my 3rd party apps were still working just fine. I did have to re-enter usernames/pw's but that was it. I lost nothing.

The snooze feature actually seems to be working now also. Before it would snooze but the reminder wouldn't vibrate or be audible. Now it is.

There is a check box in the install that asks if you want to save 3rd party apps. I checked it and it made a backup including the 3 third party apps I use. It restored them as one of the last steps in the install.

Default I need help

So I only have dial up (it's sad). Is there anyway I can get just the software update for my 7100i? It's looking like it's going to take a long time to download that huge file.

Ok, Troubleshooting time.

I started the upgrade. Installer locked up at Initializing.

Now all I have is a white screen with a symbol with the number 507.

Desktop can't find the phone to restore the phone prior to upgrade attempt.

????

507 just means you phone has no operating system. You should be able to get to it using your USB port and Desktop Manager. Are you getting any error messages?

You might try JavaLoader and do a -u wipe just to make sure it's clean.
