I'm a pretty big gmail user and most of the time I'm in front of a computer and can manage my email that way (I hate leaving messages unread). But I'm wondering what (if any) reconciliation is there between the BB and Gmail? I read in another post that emails deleted on the BB are not deleted from gmail. That's not a big deal for me, since I delete very few messages anyway. But how about read/unread markers? If I read something on the BB, will it show as read in Gmail?

There's no reconciliation at all. All of your gmail must be managed separately between your PC inbox and your BB, including deletions and read/unread marks.

Are your other data services working? Perhaps you need to power cycle your phone.

Yes, all other features are working perfectly incl getting mail at only the device's address. It's not Gmail b/c when I change the forwarding address to a non-BB address, it comes through just fine
argh!

This has been talked about within the last few days..You are not alone. I am having trouble and I am on verizon. I have gmail forwarding to my @vzw.blackberry.net address and I am not getting my mail. Many others have has the same problem of late. I don't think it's Google related...

Hmm not sure what the problem is. I download my e-mail through POP with my 8700g and haven't had any problems as of late. I do not forward my gmail. Sounds like it could be a problem with the BB address.

Maybe I missed it, but what exactly does the dash do when setting up the Gmail filter?

There is no reconciliation at all between a BB handheld on BIS2.0 and GMail. You need a BES server and corporate email for that.
The dash means "not." (-username@gmail.com) means do the action for all addresses except (username@gmail.com). that's only done so you can get a copy of your sent messages to google from the handheld.

Thanks, Aroc. Makes perfect sense now.

I've been doiung Gmail this way since the directions came out. Previously, I was doing it the old way. Anyways, the BCC problem seems to have come back for me. The last couple of times I replied to a message, that was forwarded via Gmail, I ended up with the BCC copy being sent to my BB. I didn't change anything because it was wrorking fine, but now...???
TMO 8700G
++++++++++++++++++
EDITED - Darn!!! The reason I was getting a copy was due to using Reply All and discovering that in each case there were both my gmail and my BB email address on it. I was confused, but now I see it is because the sender used both on their list. I'm going to tell them to just use gmail from here on out.
forget I posted this.

I have a gmail question that seems no solution yet. What if you have multiple gmail accounts? Then only one of them you can set it as forwarding and use the guide posted here. All other gmails you will need to use the pop configuration in BIS 2.0 (if you want automatically reply-to different gmail addresses), then this guide does not work. Anyone has a solution for multiple gmails with automatically reply to address switch solution?

Great thread.
Quick question -- I'm a happy user of the "old system," and the thing that makes me happiest is that I avoid receiving most spam on my BB because it's filtered into the Spam folder before forwarding.
Does this method achieve the same result?

Yes, my spam folder still fills up every day. Works the same as far as I can tell.

BIS messages visible to BES administrator?
Hi guys,
I currently have my gmail POPed "old style" via BIS2.0 to my work BB. We have a blackberry server (BES) in the office as of a month ago. I'm using gmail (to another gmail account, not via BB) to chat with a colleague about some tricky situations in the office and this morning the IT manager has made some smart comment to this colleague that suggests he knows the content of some of the messages (they are all deliberately tame and vague in any case!). It is possible for a BES admin to see messages that arrive on the handheld via BIS2.0 ?
(I think he might be reading stuff on our screens via a citrix type system anyway!)
Thanks
Neil

What will my options be if I am on a bes server? Is there a way for me to send and receive mail with it not going through the bes server?

Ok, how do I get my emails (brian@mycompany.com) in real time to my blackberry? I think this question is best suited for John, since you did something similar, if not exactly what I need.
Do I just have my (brian@mycompany.com) email address forward to gmail, and then the gmail forward to my @vzw.blackberry.net?
If so, how do I set it so whenever I reply to an email, it comes from my (brian@mycompany.com) email and not the gmail or the blackberry email?
I know this may sound stupid, but I got extremely lost reading this thread and have no idea how to do this! I don't care about the @vzw.blackberry.net email, as I do not even give that out to people.
I need my BB to solely focus on my (brian@mycompany.com) email so I can send/receive in real time.
That is the only email address I need. Can anyone help?

hope that clears it up.

VERY cool, I might do this as well with my domain name address. Do you have a similar setup on your laptop/desktop to achieve the same thing?

I just plug in the info into bis 2.0 and I get one way integration like yahoo without doing anything special. Get my emails before the gmail does actually.
