Default Shortcut to lock device

Please Login to Remove!

With the Pearl I could lock the device simply by holding down the "sym" key. Is there a similar function on the curve? Also, is there a key such as the tab key on a normal computer that allows you to jump to fields faster as opposed to having to scroll using the trackball?

Mucho Gracias....

Go to the Phone app. Hit the menu key and select Options and go to General Options. Scroll down to "Dial From Home Screen" and set it to "No." Then you can use the "K" key to lock the device.

Nope. You get lots of other keyboard shortcuts too. "N" is BB Messenger. "M" is Messages. "O" is Options...etc. It only adds one button for dialing. Simply hit the green phone button and then type your name as you would from the home screen.

I have VZ, I don't have a "General Options" tab. So does that mean I can't turn off the "dial from home screen"? What in the world? Am I missing it? Anyone? Help please. I'd love to have all the shortcuts.

No, you can (at least you should). I have VZW as well... follow these steps:

Press the send key (brings up your call log) > press the menu key and scroll down to options and select that > the very first option on this screen is "General Options" and you can disable the dial from home screen there.

Or, you could use a Zen theme and rearrange the icons so that the lock icon is always on your home screen as another option.

Thank you, thank you!! That worked perfectly. I think I'll have to try out this new way to see what works best for me.

If you have dial from home screen enabled then you can just hold down the ALT key and then press Enter.
