i just got my blackberry pearl unlocked and im kinda new to all this... i was woundering i put in an 02 sim card in my pearl and it is telling me data connection refused ? I was woundering if there is a way I can enable data and also how would i go about changing the WAP settings that should enable me to use the internet ? im going to do some reading about all this and see what i can find out....i was just woundering...i now have an 02 sim card in my unlocked blackberry and was woundering how i would be able to goto webpages or check my email..... i have the 02 wap settings but im not 100% sure if im using them correctly. Im in europe now i will be here for 40 days and im sick of the cell phone companies and there rape you roaming rates...thanks all

Data Connection Refused means you don't have a BB Data Plan with the carrier whose SIM card you have in the Pearl. Without the Data Plan, no internet, no email, no data.

"Unlocked" only means another carrier's SIM will work in the BB. You have use of the phone and SMS.

so i would have to contact the provider of whose sim card im using and if they offer it I would be able to use it....thats all i was woundering...

im assuming you would be able to access data on bb seeing i can send texts...

if i were to change wap settings ? does that do anything useful ?

SMS (text messaging) is not a service of the data, it is part of the phone function (to make it simple). You assumed wrong, you will need to call your carrier to add a BB Data Plan for data. You can change your WAP settings to the carrier you have. O2 has several settings for the country servicing it... such as:

Scroll down the list and see which applies to you. Note also, you could be charged additional data charges for using data.
