Or RIM can fix it.

Will you be surprised if a future firmware update addresses this? I have read quite a few complaints about this as well as techno-workarounds such as saturating mp3's to the point of distortion via editors.

So long as extended tests at higher volumes don't lead to blown speakers, I suppose I wouldn't necessarily be surprised.

That said, if they do nothing I wouldn't be surprised either.

In the office you could always set the volume to a quieter tone.
This is what I had issue with, I would be driving in a car with the radio on and miss calls because my device in the seat next to me would ring and I could not hear it whereas all phones I've owned before i could here with the radio on just fine (and no I don't have a speakerbox belting out bass shaking the highway.....lol). The 8830 was a wee bit better than the 8703e with call volume and ringer volume, so that is proof that RIM is moving in the right direction. From my research of the iphone, Apple's first stab @ a phone has missed the same marks as RIM in terms of low volume ringers.

I haven't replied since I was traveling a bit.

Needless to say I did not return Blackberry.

Yes, I posted my note in a fit of frustration but I am getting use to my Blackberry. There are many features I love, but because of time constraints I will be on a steep slow learning curve.

I still am not sure if I can syn with both my work email and a yahoo account and have them both post messages as they arrive in my email accounts.

Thanks for all of your comments.
