I am traveling internationally (to kyrgyzstan) and want to keep in constant contact with my clients. Here is what I would love to do:

check email while on the airplane
use my blackberry as my internet connection for my laptop
make phone calls via cell phone to clients back in the states

what do you recommend? depending on what i can get, i may not have to find a place to stay that offers internet access at all in a hotel or apt. over there. also, how fast of speeds are you all getting?

Your choices are limited to phones offered by GSM providers. Stateside GSM providers include Cingular and T-Mobile. Among those two providers, I would recommend that you go with the 7130c, 8700c, or 8700g models. Or wait for the upcoming 8100 series to be released for both T-Mobile and Cingular. Transfer rates depend on both location and network conditions.

If your in a hurry get the 8700c cingular, or 8700g tmobile.. or if you want you can wait for the new 8100 coming this September 18 if i'm not mistaken.

you're right flash exept the 8100 is really small if you want a qwerty full keyboard get the 8700

There are no devices anywhere that will send and receive e-mail while on an airplane.

You can compose messages, read and respond to e-mails already on the BB, but they will not be sent until you reach your destination, and your BB has connected to the network wherever you are.

In the US TM doesn't have the 850 spectrum, only the 1900 (maybe the reverse), but they only have one, so you tend to roam more, as they have alot of roaming agreements, BUT if you can pull their signal, even if it is weaker than the roaming signal that is what you get, so coverage is not as stable as Cingular for those that travel around the US. Don't know about intl.
