Default Hard Locked Blackberry 9900

Please Login to Remove!

So I recently purchased a blackberry 9900 off some guy thinking I could unlock it. Unfortunately it's hard locked (i'm assuming). Every time I start the phone it has that screen asking me if I want to enter an unlock code, I hit yes and it just goes to the main screen saying INSERT SIM or whatever.

Anyways I decided to sell it to someone on the carrier but when he tried to put in his sim the SAME thing happened (asking for unlock code and skips the screen where you enter the unlock code), what's wrong with the phone?!

Is it somehow FULLY locked/bricked?!

If you enter the incorrect MEP unlock code ten times it will lock the device permanently to the original carrier, if that is what you are intending to do.

Can you tell us the exact wording of the message displayed on the phone when you turn it on?

Also, is your phone branded with a particular network/carrier, and if so, does this same message appear if you insert a SIM card from that network/carrier?

Yes, the code was locked to the original carrier, so I sold it to someone who is on Telus, when he puts his SIM it still does not work (it's the exact same thing as when I put my Rogers SIM in, it asks me if I want to unlock, I'll cilck yes and it'll go directly to the main screen (doesn't ask me to enter the unlock code). No reception and says Please insert Sim

On the device homescreen, hold down the ALT key while typing EACE
That will bring up the Help! screen. What is the Vendor ID there?

Hi,
I am having the same problem. I purchased a Blackberry that i was told was locked to Bell. Well, i paid the money and realized that it had been hardlocked and was locked to Rogers (stupid me, i know).

However, my friends who own a rogers blackberry have tried to put in their sim card in the phone and it does not recognize it... similar to the poster above.

Is there a solution, i don't care to unlock it, i just want to sell it to someone on the Rogers network.

Get your money back is the best solution, IMHO.

I did this and the vendor ID is 331. What does this mean?
