Now before telling me to use the Q&A, I have read various forums and answers and all diverge and I cant set myself a clear picture if it is true or not.

Until a couple of hours ago I believed that unlocking my phone would not cause me any trouble but on the internet there are some sources saying that there.

Well here is my problem. I bought my BlackBerry 9700 in France and it is locked to SFR. I have now moved to Spain and was about to buy an unlock code from this website to be able to buy either a Vodafone or Orange SIM card and make my BBM and internet work with the spanish data plan.

Now I have read from some sources that are concerned that if you unlock your phone you will loose BBM and internet.

So if I buy an unlock code for my french BB in order to use it on a spanish data plan will my internet and BBM still work ?

If no are there some ways to fix it ? Like unlocking it and then clicking register so that it registers on the spanish network or buying a Vodafone sim since they are SFR partners ?

This is true. Unlocking has no effect on your ability to use data on the device.

Yes, as long as your SIM card is provisioned with the correct BlackBerry data package.

Pay attention to the last line of the previous post.
You MUST have a BlackBerry Data plan on the SIM card that you are using.
Note that a BlackBerry can only be active against one data plan at a time.

Some networks/carriers only require you to have a normal data plan to use the non BlackBerry specific features like the internet, whereas BBM and Push Email are BlackBerry specific. Just check with your new intended network/carrier.
