Default Bluetooth Stack for Windows 2000

Has anyone figured out how to Bluetooth sync using Windows 2000?

Is there a blackberry-compatible third-party bluetooth stack? I know Microsoft has not released an official stack for Windows 2000.

There must be a way to do this.

Default IOGear GBU221WM doesn't work

Followed these instructions to a T, and IOGear GBU221WM does not work with them. Will state found new hardware, new hardware being installed, new hardware installed and ready to use message from system tray, but then nothing. No MY Bluetooth Places, no BT icon in system tray, just BT adapter in Device Manager that swears its working properly. What a joke. Good thing I have plenty of data cables...

I have 2 Vista computers and both are giving me driver troubles for Bluetooth. I have followed the directions but when I try to save the changes made to the requested %windir% file I get the message:

Cannot create the C:\Windows\inf\bth.inf file. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

This same message appears on both Vista computers when I try to save the changes... does anybody know how to proceed when you can't save the changes made to the file??

Thanks,
Sandy

Default WoW! Thanks morser!

I purchased a Belkin Bluetooth Adapter to establish a Bluetooth connection to my Dell notebook and was unsuccessful for 2 months. I'd ran across this post but it seemed a little too overwhelming for me and I gave up the pursuit. Well, this morning I decided to follow the instructions verbatim and received a successful connection to the Desktop Manager and Dial-up Networking.

I'd swapped my Pearl 8130 for the Curve 8330 because my charging port had become destroyed on the Pearl, but now I can synch my .ipd files to the Pearl, making the device no longer a loss.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This guide was most helpful and if followed to the letter will yield successful connections.

Default Paring with Vista (thinkpad bluetooth)

This page gives me a clue, not complete solutions.
I believe this page is only for XP.

So my issues are,
1. After pairing with the PC, the PC keeps asking for two unknown "bluetooth peripheral device" drivers which can not be found anywhere including the CD.
2. Therefore connecting the PC is a failure.
3. A solution mentioned above doesn't give anything to me.

--- Details ---
PC OS: WIndows Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit
PC Bluetooth Device: ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate
Phone: Blackberry 9000 (Bold)
Phone OS: 4.6.0.167

in bth.inf (it is already stored, as it is)
[IBM.NTamd64...1]
ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate= BthUsb, USB\Vid_xxxx&Pid_xxxx

in device mananger (different format from in referred sites)
HW Id: BTHENUM\{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}_LOCALMFG&000f
HW ID: BTHENUM\{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}_LOCALMFG&000f
--- Details ---

I tried to do everything, but nothing works.
Am I only one that have this issue? Could anyone help me?

Thanks.

Default 8310 AT&T Bluetooth sync issues

I'm new to BB and have been reading many threads on this issue, and taken advice on many of them. Here is what I have so far:

Microsoft Blue tooth Stack: successful paring with my device
Desktop Manager Software: 4.7.0.32
Device Software: 4.5.0.110(Platform 2.7.0.90)

I am not connected to enterprise server (that I know). I keep reading about the IT policies preventing the sync. I am not using mail synchronization yet, just got the phone.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Default Bluetooth problem

Hi,
I have a problem with BB desktop manager, and a DELL PC
Latitude ATG D630 by Bluetooth communication.
The BB 8100 phone can send a vcard with contacts list to PC, but
BB desktop manager can't see a Bluetooth connection, and I use it
with USB connection.
Why ?

BB 8100 version 4.5.0.124
BB Desktop manager version 4.7.0.37

Thanks for your help

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

As posted, that's because you don't have the native windows drivers installed. DM only picks up the Windows native drivers. If you have another mfr's drivers DM won't see the BT. That being said, I have a Dell Latitude D800 that, even with the Windows drivers DM still doesn't see the BT.

Default If you ask me, the two "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" items in Device Manager are...

...the SD Card file system and the internal memory file system.

When I plug in my 9000 via USB, I'm asked to allow the file system access mode: I get two drive letters in My Computer.

When I connect by Bluetooth, I don't get those two drives... but I do have two "Bluetooth Peripheral Devices" with the yellow exclamation mark in my Device Manager.

If you google "Blackberry bluetooth peripheral device" you'll find a number of "solutions" for the two bad drivers, but those fixes bring to mind 'shaken baby syndrome'. Use the "Update Driver" feature with any old driver (complete with "Windows can't say this driver is right" warning) to shake your baby 'til it stops crying.

Since I'm missing my two drives that I normally get via USB connection, I figure these two devices lacking drivers are in fact the onboard file systems... so does anybody know of generic "bluetooth file system" drivers that I could try for these two "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" spots that would give me file system access via Bluetooth?

I'm not interested in shaking my baby 'til it stops crying: I want it to be happy.

I'll bet money that those two devices are the "Blackberry Desktop Service" and the "Blackberry Bypass Service". I have the same two "splats" in my device manager. I can disable those specific services and make the splats go away, but they are required for BT sync operation. This is simply a missing driver or inf that I would think came with the desktop manager. My Windows 7 machine lists all the BT services a device tries to use and these two services, when disabled, clear up the two splats. Still no idea what driver it uses or how to clear it up. tried with the widcomm bt stack and the windows 7 native stack. No joy in any case. Now I think I have hosed up my config so bad from adding and removing BT stacks, I think I am beyond any possibility of recovering without wiping the system.

Actually this is how I fixed this issue (thanks to Ghostie3599).

PREAMBLE: Bear in mind this is a Research In Motion issue, and not a Microsoft issue. The Blackberry software should have the appropriate .INF files that allow Windows to install the correct device drivers for all detected Bluetooth Peripherals.

Go to the Control Panel and choose the Device Manager applet
You should see two items called Bluetooth Peripheral Device being listed with an yellow icon, meaning that they can't be"used" due to missing drivers.
Right click the first Bluetooth Peripheral Device and choose Update Driver Software...
When asked how do you want to search for the driver software, select the second option Browse My Computer for driver software
When asked for what kind of hardware this is, select the option Ports (COM & LPT) and click Next
At the Update Driver Software Dialog, click on the bottom option that is preceeded by a green arrow Let me pick from a list of device drivers from my computer
In the next dialog, make sure the option Show compatible hardware is NOT SELECTED
From the list of Manufacturers at the left, select RIM Virtual Serial Ports
The list of Models at the right will drill down to RIM Virtual Serial Port.Select this model and click Next.
You should get a confirmation that the driver was successfuly installed.
In my case, following these steps gave Windows vista the hint that the other Bluetooth Peripheral Device would work with the same driver. So after doing these steps for the first Bluetooth Peripheral Device, I got both devices working OK. However, if you still have the second Bluetooth Peripheral Device being listed with the yellow icon (i.e.: missing drivers), try repeating these steps to see if it works. If it doesn't, then the Bluetooth Peripheral Device might be something else (i.e.: not a virtual COM port).

It worked, now I need to figure out how configure DUN vian Bluetooth.

Is it that difficult to support a simple serial port connection via other Bluetooth stacks like Widcomm or Toshiba by your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software ? Do not tell me I should remove my bluetooth software, which I like in order to get the BlackBerry Desktop Manager working. All other phone companies with a own Sync software are able to do it. My next cellphone will be from Sony Ericssion because they have a better software and support.
