Default BB Maps vs Google Maps

Please Login to Remove!

Am I missing something? Blackberry Maps seems vastly inferior to Google Maps in just about every way.

Traffic, layers, appearance, speed... I can't find anything better in BB Maps.

Thanks,
R

I also prefer GoogleMaps, particularly the cell tower location on start and the traffic feature.

Depends on what you need.
BBMaps has some advantages:
- Faster start
- has cell tower location also
- uses a fraction of data, that might be important when roaming because BBmaps uses vector graphics instead of pixel maps
- smoother and faster map movment
- google has questionable privacy policies, BBmaps does not look like RIM will do statistics on your data

For me, the positive of BBMaps is the app is fast and the map updates and scrolls faster. The negative is there have been a few time when it cannot find a search location. As far as the bells and whistles, I don't need them and don't want the added bulk.

Best app is the one that's best for you.

superfayssal,
If you dont have BB maps, its most likely because your provider does not want you to use it, or has not provisioned the device correct. Also, you need a Blackberry data plan for using BB Maps.
Call your operator and ask them first

maybe check out this thread:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/beta...-os-4-5-a.html

This does not apply directly to your device and OS version, but still it may help a little.

The only time I used BB Maps is when I need to grab the location coordinates of a location so that I can send the coords to someone. Otherwise G-Map is much more feature rich. Also on G-Maps you can save the locations and favs etc.
Off course 7-Traffic, 5-toggle the view and other shortcuts are very helpful

"Also on G-Maps you can save the locations and favs etc"
you have that too with Blackberry maps. In addition if you are on an enterprise server, your location favourites will be saved with the wireless backup.

Two different uses. Google is more detailed but in some areas slow. BB Maps is fast but generally for those who just need location info. I also have TeleNav as a cost map service but find BBM easier to use. I only use TeleNav for the voice and content stuff.
