We've had 3.0 in the UK for a week or so now and no Gmail sync. It was the only upgrade of note as far as I am concerned, so it's massively disappointing that they chose not to implement it in this release.

Hopefully the new announcements will mean we will have that functionality soon. It's tiresome to have to mark my gmail read manually when I have multiple accounts pushing through to the BlackBerry.

Some comments on Crackberry that some users in the EU (not my part of the EU from what I can see....) have gmail sync.

Don't know if this is accurate or not.

Without G-Mail sync, what does 3.0 have?

Not a whole lot unless you're into open document formats...

I'm not a fan of open documents in particularly but I do hear that free programs like open office.org are going popularity simply because they are free.

I was curious about this, so I logged in to the website and deleted my GMail account. Then I recreated it. The process is very different.

During setup, it asked if I wanted to sync contacts. I chose to. Then it told me to go through some setup steps on the device, which I did. The activation was very BES like and when finished, I had all my contacts from GMail on the device.

I will admit that I have not deleted and recreated my GMail account in quite a while. Perhaps a couple of months when there was talk about contact sync in the past.

Since they don't post a "You are using BIS 3.0" sign on the site, I am guessing I am and that the change happened for VZW sometime recently.

With the new BIS are you able to see the messages you've sent on the BB that are not yet in a thread?

No, it doesn't seem so. But, two things:

1) Make sure you don't have "hide sent messages" enable in options (option in the mail folder)

2) You can see those sent message in your general messages folder before they become part of a thread.
