I've had a bb for 2 years and I cannot live without my bbm. 4 days ago I upgraded from a pearl to the new 8900. The phone is amazing but in order to get it at upgrade price I had to have my phone number changed and after 2 days they could transfer back to my old phone number. I'm currently back on my old phone number, my web browsing works, my emails work but my bbm is completely down, all my contacts appear with the re "x" next to them. When I try to readd them nothing happens, when they try to readd me nothing happens, if I try and send them a message it stays with the little red clock next to it. Nothing happens. Someone please help! :(

Can you send PIN messages?

I really don't know what the problem is. If were me I'd try (1) a hard reset, (2) re-sending service books, and (uninstalling and reinstalling blackberry messenger, in that order.

I assume you went online and input your new PIN?

My buddy had this problem with his 8900 when he first got it from Rogers. They told him to upgrade to the latest OS that was on their site. That got it going.

That sounds annoying as heck. Here is what I would try:
First, reactivate your new BB in the BIS protal by entering your PIN/ IMEI. Second, resend your servcie books for the BIS site. Then pull your battery and see if that fixes it. If not, look for an option in your BBM app menu that is somethind like "Update PIN". It will notify your contacts of your new p[hone/ PIN.

Other than that, update your software like @jason.cyr13 says.

i just went from a pearl 8100 to a 8120 to a 8900 in the last week, and i had no problems getting all my bbm's transfering, i dont know if the phone number would have anything to do with it, when you do the device transfer it is suppoised to automatically change your pin number on your contacts phone and transfer them to your new phone. when i was dont the transfer, they were all there and working right away
