Hi,

My lock/unlock keypad button and the 'bell' button (no idea what it did) dont work on my BB. Its 2nd hand so I dont really mind, but I was wondering what might be able to sort this out. I was charged by my local off license/corner shop guy that he would change the part for about 15 quid which he said may or may not work. I can get a entire new face for it for less off ebay and do it myself. I cant imagine its that hard.

Is it likely that this will fix the problem? When i press them, there is still the 'click' feeling so i dont know if its something within the case

have you put the new software on it ? I updated my software and now them buttons dont do anything but put a lock on keys.

"Bell" button = mute and puts device to sleep.
In some OS 5 versions it no longer puts device sleep.

It is also possible, that you 've got a BB 8900 with not genuine housing, in which these buttons have no contact with the mainboard.
I tried it once and so was the effect (I bought a housing in Hong Kong, called "OEM Housing" ;)).
I installed in on BB. The upper buttons were no more active.
After opening I saw, that the middle part of housing above antenna has got no switches for the upper buttons.

well whenever u buy a face plate off ebay it does not come with the switches, u either have to swap from ur old one or buy new ones.

i am too having the same problem with my phone, but the mute/sleep button did work but not the lock. so i took apart my phone and inspected the contacts and pushed them down but did not fix. i did not thing anout maybe bending them out a bit to get more contact i will have to try that and let u guys know.
