I don't remember the shortcut key, but you can activate the menu and choose the mute option while the call is active.

You can aslo press the mute/standby button on the top of the device.

Haha. This post made me lol. I have a buddy Mike I would like to mute sometimes too. But yeah, like said you can mute the mic with the button at the top.
