Default Help: Curve will not read 4GB micro SDHC...

Please Login to Remove!

If anyone can help...

I've read several posts regarding the Curve being able to read the 4GB microSDHC cards, however, my BB will not. I call AT&T, who is of no help. I got in touch with RIM, who will not verify the Curve will read SDHC cards, so no help there. But I have read numerous posts of people able to read the 4GB card with the Curve. I have the latest firmware update (v4.2.2.89, platform 2.4.0.39), so I feel I have the latest firmware. Is there any way to get this phone to read the card? Is the card faulty perhaps? Any ideas?

You might have to format it.

Defective card maybe?

Or maybe even a fake card?

Did you enable Media Card/Mass Storage Support? Options>Advanced Options>Media Card>Media Card Support set to ON/Mass Storage Support set to ON.

I just popped a SanDisk 4GB Micro SDHC card in my Curve and it reads it (3.7GB available) just fine. I might try the others' suggestions. Are you also sure that you are inserting it correctly?

It is a Sandisk 4GB microSDHC card. I believe I inserted it correctly as both I and the rep at AT&T have tried it...

When I got my Pearl, I wasn't able to get the card recognized either. Called ATT, and while he was researching it, I figured out how to enable the Mass Media Support as I explained above. Have you tried that? When you call ATT, the reps go through the tutorial just like anyone else. It's when you have a serious problem that you get an upper level tech. I had a problem so bad yesterday, the upper level tech had to contact a RIM rep to figure out the problem. It's always hit or miss with tech support, but I have to say, ATT at least tries.

Happened to me once.

Here's what I did:

1 - Remove card from device
2 - Format card on a PC using FAT32
3 - Insert card in device
4 - Format card in device

This did it for me

jyamani--

Thank you for the idea...although I'm not familiar with FAT32. Is this software that needs to be downloaded, or is it a program that typically comes with current Windows OS? Again, thank you for your help.

Regarding the card being faulty...I had AT&T try to format the card with their PC at the store--their PC could not recognize the card. When I spoke to SanDisk about this, they told me any device had to be capable of reading the new "HC" format. So, I've not been able to determine a faulty card as of yet.

FAT32 is a type of file system, something you select when formating the card.

When you speak to sandisk tell them you are using a device that can read microSDHC. It is well proven that a properly formatted SanDisk 4gb microSD card works fine in the 8300.

Also if the card does not work in your PC you may have a bad card. It does happen right out of the box sometimes.....

I just bought a 4gb Sandisk MicroSDHC card yesterday. All I did was install it and the phone recognized it with no problem.
