Default I think something is wrong...

Ok Guys,

The 8100 Pearl is my first BB (Love it)

I have T-Mobile, with the unlimited BB data plan.

The email address I would like to use is my own, [email address]

It is a standard POP account on my shared hosting provider.

When I added the account at T-Mobile's site, it configured it as an IMAP, with no option to change it so I thought thats how it must work...

What's weird is that I can send a test message from various accounts, and sometimes it will be pushed through to the phone (with at least a 30min delay) and other times it won't....ever.

Like this morning, while still in bed, I sent a message from my BB using the [email address] account to [email address], and about 10 mins later the phone beeped and I saw my message, YAY! But.... later this morning I got up, went to my office, fired up outlook, and 2 messages came down from the server, my test message recieved at 9:42am and another email from a company I ordered from received at 7:28am.

This is just one example. I love my phone and would love it to work correctly! Right now I feel the need to constantly check outlook because I might be missing something.

Anyone know what's up?

Thanks in advance from a frustrated user.

Brant

I've clicked that button on T-Mob's site several times... didnt help much. Could it be RIM's servers are checking my email account too often and shutting it down temporarily? I dont know the frequency they do that, or that my provider even limits it... but it seems like a good guess...?

ok it's POP but it's added as IMAP?

remove it...choose to re-add your account but enter in ONLY your email address...

this will get you to another screen where you can enter in your server name etc and choose if it's POP or IMAP

you should then receive all your email consistently

nah it's not T-Mobiles fault

BIS by default looks for IMAP first...and since you obviously have some IMAP functionality/access it will add it as that

i always add accounts w/o entering a password just to make sure it goes through right the first time

Well it seemed to work ok, but now hours later when I open outlook there is mail being downloaded, none of which made it to the phone :(

When I send email to the tmo.blackberry.net account is takes 2 seconds. I know that my POP mail should take longer, but I still only get one out of about 6 emails... Grrr

Just checked the t-mobile settings on the site, and it's back to IMAP! I know I picked POP, I'll do it again though, just to make sure...

Any chance you did not configure your Outlook to leave messages on server?

I did not, do I need to? I thought as long as I get it on the BB first, it won't matter that it deletes from the server after I get the message in Outlook...

I dont leave Outlook open, so it isnt deleting the mail from the server until I manually launch it and check for mail...

Can you setup your email server to forward a copy of new mail to your tom.blacberry.bet address? This may be an easy work around to avoid the problem your having.

I wish I could, but it's either a mailbox or a forward, not both. Unless someone can prove me wrong.. it's Bluehost.com hosting
