Clients complaining about background noice w/ my 640. Plantronics rep said 510 was only model w/ noise cancellation -- he said 645's DSP wouldn't cancel as much as the 510. Those of you (gadget and ...) who have both, what are you finding?

I would have to disagree. I have left myself messages on my office phone from the car with the 645 and it's very clear. I really don't notice much difference between the two and have asked family members (who would be the most critical) of any "barrel noise" or problems hearing me and they too say the sound quality is good. Just wish the battery life was a little better. I'm having to keep both charged to use the 510 when the 645 runs down.

Well, I ended up getting rid of my 645. The two biggest problems I had were:

1. The volume was too low. My 640 has a higher volume.
2. When a call came in, there was a big delay from the time I pressed the answer button (on either the phone or the headset), until I could start talking. Again, my 640 didn't have that much of a delay.

Don't know if the 645 just doesn't like the 7130e or not but I'm back to my 640 until there's a better headset out. I even tried a Moto h605 and Plantronics 510 but they weren't as good as the 640 IMHO.

I agree with you Sparkomatic. The delay in the 645 when you answer a call is really annoying and sometimes it is hard to tell when you have a connection with the caller.

Yesterday I was riding in a Lincoln Towncar @ 70 MPH and tested the 645 by calling my office voice mail. There was still a lot of road noise in the background. My voice was loud but the road noise is still in the background. Not nearly as bad as the 640 but it was still there. The radio noise was blocked out for the most part until I turned the volume up louder than what I normally listen too.

For fun I purchase a Cardo 500 for around $35 and I get the same results as the 645 as far as road noise in the background. Audio quality on the other end is about the same but not as good in my ear. But not a huge difference.

I am beginning to wonder if it is my 8700c. My old 640 worked great on my Razr and people did not know I was on headset.

I really do not want to carry around 2 phones!!

Yeah, the 640 has been the best headset I've owned aside from the Flamingo. And, after the small size of the 640, all the over the ear ones are just too bulky. What to do...what to do...

The few reviews I have seen on this new MiniBlue5 are not flattering at all. There is no microphone on it it simply picks up vibrations from your ear canal and the resulting sound is not of the best quality, It is one of those curious gadgets you like to see and maybe even use but are not practical at all. If you are complaining now, I am sure you will be complaining more then.

The H5 definitely looks cool. But I heard it's like those headphones you have to shove in your ear canal for the whole sound through vibration thing. Sounds way too uncomfortable for me.

I owned the discovery 640 and I just sold it off on eBay along with my explorer 320. I'm using the 645 right now.
I will post a decent review all these later tonight.

At the moment,
I think the 320 is decent for someone who doesn't want to spend more than $35.00 for a bluetooth and want a simple device.
The 640 is slighty better than the 320 but not really in sound/clarity as much as it is in comfort and it is worth the $60.00 for what you get in the box. My only regret with the 640 is that it has cheaper quality plastic parts than the 320 and the tiny parts on the 640 all come off someway or the other and are extremely easy to lose and are very expensive to replace.
Another qualm I have with the 640 is that is has no charger inlet for the BB usb charger. You have to buy one off ebay for $10.00.

I've not spent time with the 645 to give an honest opinion, but at first use, it looks to be sturdier somehow than the 640, and the parts are more firmly secure on it. I'm not sure if it is worth $130.00 though. DSP is not something that everyone will need unless you spent 90% of your talk time at airports and construction sites or in convertable cars.

I liked the 640 but the JX10 is just better. My only complaint with the 640 is I found it uncomfortable to wear for extended periods.

That was my thought of the JX10 by the looks of it. The little wire over the ear clip doesn't "look" comfortable. I need something that can stay there for at least a couple hours without getting uncomfortable.

And like the 640/645 you're not required to use the ear loop.

I have a 2 month old 8700c with the latest OS. I have tried the 640, 645, and the Cardo Scala 500 and if there is the least bit of noice people on the other end complain of white noise in the background. I have left myself messages on my office line and I agree with them. The Scala 500 is the only usable device. The 640 and 645 work great on my wife's motorola Razr.

My question is does anyone else have these issues? If not do you have any recommedations as far as phone setting? Could it be my phone is bad?
