Just jumped on the bandwagon... Mini how-to:

1. call normal customer support. say you want to add BIA1 and delete your other.
2. log onto the cingular forums and do a live chat if your browsers don't work. Some of the customer service reps aren't provisioning the accounts quite right.
3. once they wave thier magical cingular wand, you will be instructed to re-register the host routing table.
4. enjoy the lower cost and thank the cust service rep.

Everything works great for me now, including ssh, etc.

Default Free text messaging included with new BIS 2.0???

Well, I got the plan switched, and just got off the phone with CS fixing the internet browser issue (thanks, johnfromphilly.) Just logged into my account to see if the new plan was properly reflected, and here's what it now shows under "My Features":

Cingular Domestic LD $0.00
Cingular Roam LD $0.00
GSM Coverage Area $0.00
Unlimited Expd M2M $0.00
7PM-7AMNight/Wknds $7.00
900 Rollover Mins $0.00
Off-Network Roam $0.00
Unlimited N&W $0.00
Multimedia-PayPerMsg $0.00
Cingular Direct Bill $0.00
Upgrade $0.00
Txt Msg Promo 200 (Expired 06/16/06 ) $0.00
BBRYBISUNL $29.99
Text Messaging 200 (Eff 06/16/06 ) $0.00
Total: $36.99

Now, the interesting thing is, I *had* been on the plan where I was paying $4.99/month for (I think) the same 200 text messages. Now, all of a sudden it shows that "promo" for $0.00 ending the 16th, and a new "Text Messaging 200" for $0.00 effective that same date. I haven't changed anything at all, except for the migration today from the old $44.99 plan to the new $29.99 plan for BB data - so, maybe they're also including a text messaging package with this new plan? That makes it even better if so!

It amazes me at how ignorant the CS reps are to new things. Cingular should let these guys know whats going on so they can have some sort of clue about new plans and changes. Im still trying to get my browsers back after talking to 5 people.

I was on the phone with 1 tech support person after changing to the BIS plan who was able to get my internet working again after about 30 mins. Not sure what the problem was but it is all good now. I overheard him say that my service plan was set to the incorrect time zone, but I don't beleive that it was the only issue.

Are you asking for Blackberry technical support when calling Cingular?

That is very important, you may have to hold for them but they should fix it.

Tell them you changed to the new plan and lost your browser- took my guy all of 5 minutes.

You can just call BlackBerry technical support direct at 800-304-3044 and not have to deal with the first level tech support to start.

I went into the Cingular website and looked at my plan details. I have Nation 1400 FamilyTalk w/Rollover. There is a tab to click on "optional features". In there I found the first mention I have seen in writing about the Unlimited plan @ $29.99. They call it BlackBerry Internet Service Plan, I wonder how that differs from Blackberry Unlimited...is it just for BIS? I guess that makes sense.

It also answers the question, then, of BES having to stick at the $44.99 price point.

I thought it was interesting...

Anyway here are the Blackberry related options that were available:

BlackBerry Connect 4MB*** $34.99
BlackBerry Connect Unlimited*** $44.99
Blackberry 4MB $34.99
Blackberry Unlimited $44.99
BlackBerry Internet Service Plan $29.99

I have the BIS 2.0 setup with my yahoo accounts which are actually ameritech.net accounts (SBC Yahoo DSL) pop.ameritech.yahoo.com
All 3 of my accounts take 10 - 20 min before they show up on my blackberry! I thought this was going to be faster not slower.. Is there some special way to set them up?

Thanks

UPDATE: It appears that I was speaking to a CS that didn't know how to do it. I went to my local store and they were able to remove the old one and add the new one. I got home and logged in to verify. All is good.

I finally was able to get through to a blackberry technician. He resolved the problem quickly and told me he went to a seminar 2 weeks ago about the new 2.0. These are the guys who know what going on. Call them directly if you need help.

I'm hoping it is just because so many people changed today and give it a week or so and it will be just as fast as 1.8.

Well, sounds like so far I'm the only one lucky enough to save 20 bucks instead, since they also apparently at the same time removed my $4.99 text messaging package and substituted a FREE 200 messages/month item instead!

I understand they prefer customer's to purchase a voice plan in addition to the data plan thereby offering a discount. What about the Deaf Community?! Why should we have to pay a data-only penalty? TMO doesn't charge extra and they target the deaf with the BlackBerry and Sidekicks.

Would it be easier to add a pay-per-use voice plan and never use it and not incurr charges. Would we still get the $5 discount?

$5 isn't a lot of money, but if TMO/iwireless towers are in my area, why pay more? Loyalty? Or is it just you're better off to pay up to Cingular?

Curious how Cingular Blue (ATTW) customers will be handled? Would we need to change over with a new plan and a new BlackBerry that is not locked to ATTW? Or do I need to unlock my ATTW to keep make it work on Cingular? What happens then they become ATTW again?

I welcome a price break, but at the same time, my contract is finished and I'm able to shop around for the best deal. I'm not sure this one is it.

Steve
I don't know if anyone answered your question, but I beileve that TMO only charges $19.99 for unlimited data with a voice plan. Without a voice plan, it's $29.99 as you know. So, it's $10 more with TMO and only $5 more with Cingluar. But yeah, TMO is still cheaper.
