4.1 is running great

seems faster than the previous version

For Bluetooth, only services listed are headset and handsfree.

I am not being cute, and since i do not have reason to use it I dont see the fuss, so can someone please explain to me what the fuss is with sms amd mms, specially when so many are being charged for it and it seems that if you MUST message someone that way you can do it from teleflip. And I do not buy the issue of you dont know who it is from because if that is a problem all you would have to do is tell all the people you deal with that if they do no include their name in the forwarding then they will not get an answer. Again I just dont understand why the big deal and if someone could explain it to me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Question Nextel 4.1

Ok, I have a dumb question, and I should know better as I have been using a BB for 5+ years.

I have a Nextel 7520, which my company gave me. I have BES and we do everything (syncing) wirelessly, so I don't have Desktop Manager. etc. How do I get the new 4.1 OTA? Is this possible or do I need to contact our IT department?

Thanks!
John

the problem is i do tell everyoen that i can't recieve proper text messages and they still do it. they just don't want to change the way the text because i have a different phone. its very annoying i'll even send an email through teleflip but they almost always end up texting me back. Only people with blackberries seem to get this

OS upgrade can only be done thru a usb cable, either at the bes or through desktop manager

Default Nextel 4.1

Thanks, but I don't have the USB cord or Desktop Manager software....everything is done OTA or through our BES in California..which is out of my control.

Oh well, I will contact our IT Dept. and see what I can do..

Thanks All!
John

you should have a usb cord that is used to charge your phone. and you would have to download desktop manager and install it on your computer. if you are unable or unwillign to do either of these things then either your IT department will have to do it or someone you know with a blackberry. then you will have to reactivate BES with your company which means you will probably have to tell them that you upgraded your phone

not for me.

Still only lists, compose email, compose PIN

also, under bluetooth, the only services that are listed are headset and handsfree. While others have more services. I dont get it.

I tried that "Nsupporter" it only give option to compose email or compose PIN. Also, I can't "quickdial" from the phone menu. Before, I could be in the "phone menu" type in someone's name and dial from there. That option is now gone...

Thank You but this still does not explain the sms need or phenomenom. I can understand about people that do not have a BB, but they can either teleflip to you, or simply send an email, what is the craze about text messaging other than kids with a lot of time on their hands doing this.

I think the people with 7100i"s may be able to have the MMS and the other updates that I'm missing with my 7520...

you missed my point.. people CAN but the don't. they are trained now to text and that's what they want to do. i can remind them over and over but they all end up "forgeting". if they are going to email now they have to compose it, and save it and remember to use it again. I agree that texting isn't as big a deal as people make it out to be but the reason all us nextel bb users want it so bad isn't because WE want text messaging... its because everyone else does

I want text messaging because I like to use it who cares what anyone else thinks about it. I want to send someone a text message and keep it short and sweet instead of calling and wasting my minutes.

Ok I hear you, still do not agree or understand and if it is any consolation and there was a way to do this I would gladly give up mine so that you could use it on Nextel.

the only thing i dont' like about text messaging is the fact that companies seem to want to make their money through it. its bad enough we get raped with taxes. anyway MMS on the 7520 seems like a wash. NS supporter.. you're pretty confident in what you are saying, and i pretty much believe you do. is it possible your info was wrong?
