Very faint text on some emails
Please Login to Remove!
Yesterday, I moved from an 8100 to the 8900 (on a BES)
I have a mega issue that no one can answer, indeed no one else in my community appears to have this problem. I tried using the search tab here and cannot find any reference! Surely i am not the only one with this?
I have set my 8900 to BB Casual, 9pt, bold as I used before. But only some of my mails open with this font which is fine, but many others open with a very faint text, almost light brown in colour, which is very difficult to read.
Does anyone know why, and importantly, how to open all mails with the font I specified?
Thanks

Welcome to BB Forums, Hal Adams!
Try first a battery pull. If that didn't help, try increasing the Font's size.

Can you look at these emails with the faint text on a PC in an email client? If so, what do they look like there?

Having tried everything, I wiped the BB this evening and tried again from scratch.
So far the mails coming in appear OK. But here is the interesting thing - the only difference that I can see is that the 'enable HTML mail' check is now NO. It was YES yesterday, but I did not change anything from leaving the 8100 to starting with the 8900.
I can only conclude that the 8100 is not affected by HTML to the same detail that the 8900 does. Can this be?
Not sure I am really liking the 8900 better than the old one, but working hard trying to!
Next question - is the 16Gb card OK on the 8900? The 8100 had trouble recognising anything above 4.

16gb should be fine.

Don't know if a wipe was necessary. You state that they appear OK now but HTML email is set to off. Did you view this email on a PC Client like Outlook? Is it some sort of funky font or color? The BB is just displaying what it receives.
I found that I could type faster using Suretype on my Pearl than on my old Curve (8310) but it took a month or so to get proficient. Now I could never go back. As good as the 8310 was, this 8900 is even better.

Bill
The wipe was in desperation!
But, at least it brought up the HTML switch anomalie. Today, mails are fine and I am a man more intune with machine more than I was last week!
What I was getting (with my old HMTL set to YES) was a list of emails fine - all in 9pt Casual extra bold as I set, but on opening them, the mail headers were in the font I set alright, but the text was in plain, and yes, almost a brown colour. This I do not have set on my work PC, so I am not sure where it was picking it up! Fact is, I am fine now!
I will be OK with the 8900. I just feel that it is not as solid as the 8100, but it is technically a lot better - camera is good and the music set up is certainly faster - although I reserve judgement on that until I fill up a 16Gb card...
My last gripe is that my company has switched off the GPS function - how cheapskate is that, I ask?!
Thanks for everyone's help!

Maybe the sender of the email had set their font color as light brown? Remember, you were set to HTML email so the BB was displaying what the email was set to.

Nope! Checked that one too!
I am so delighted that it all works after the wipe that I am happy in putting it down to a quirk and I can get back to being a BB satisfied user of three years standing...
- Just wish I could activate GPS..!
